So the originals aren't required until the AOS process. I read through the guide, and it made sense, until I started thinking about it. Guess I need to not think.

AOS = Affidivat of Support which is basically the I-864 form along with the tax returns and such. That is one package which has to be filled out by the petitioner. The DS-230 is the beneficiary package which has to include the DS-230 form, marriage certificate and few other things. You need originals for that or certified copies.

Basically you need to have that for the NVC process. For the I-130 process, you can get away with a photocopies of them.

Goodluck

P.S. Don't think too much, just kidding. I still keep thinking a lot

A word of caution. I pre-filled all the forms and had everything to go and the NVC updated the DS-230 form nullifying my form. Because of this I have to get a new form (and my wife who is over seas needs to sign it). If I were to send in the current form, it would generate an RFE.

A way to prevent this is to NOT DOUBLE SIDE the pages. The form date is on the bottom of the left of the first page. If there are changes to the form number, but page 2 (the signature page) is unaffected, you can reprint pages one, three, and four. In the end, you will want to double side the pages, but not until the end. Page 2 is the critical page, since mine was signed. I have to start all over because of the date adjustment.

hello, still waiting for NOA2 of my I-130. been reading a lot of VJ in the meantime.. thanks to VJ members by the way. anyway, i always see the advice to prepare the 230 and 3032 in advance.

question is, (might be silly).. do you let the beneficiary sign the forms and put the DATE already? don't we need to wait for the NVC to send us the packet and then fill it out or i guess they are aware that we can download these forms ahead of time.

alternatively, should i just let her sign it so she can mail it now, then i'll just put the date when i am at the NVC stage?

thanks

We completed all our documents ahead of NVC getting the case number. We just held off a little on the date.

I honestly don't see much of a problem if the DS230 is signed a few weeks or month before they send you the IV bill. Frankly , what's important is that you completed the forms and signed them. When I was doing them I was a bit concerned thinking hmmm don't want to sign too early etc and now that I think about it, I'm not sure it's even an issue. I don't know if others would agree or not.

Good idea to have everything prepared and ready to go.

I have already signed it off, and send it to my wife - DS-230, DS-3032. I just signed it, and didn't put the actual dates. My spouse will just put the date ahead of month when is ready to send.

But inorder to make sure everything, one has to cheak the OMB # & EXPIRATION DATE time to time, so if there is a change in those, I think all we have to do is, fill out everything again, sign and send it again to petitioner. Since you don't wana put a hault on your own process.

Good Luck
