Gave up the fight today on erroneous I-693 RFE

We received the dreaded "we lost your medical exam" RFE last month (even though, like many of you, my wife arrived on a K1 and had her medical within the past year). I contacted our Congressman right away for help. To their credit, they made several calls to USCIS on our behalf, but kept getting the same answer - it's the POE's fault for not sending the medical to USCIS. My question back - how the hell can I control what any of you guys do? Aren't you supposed to work together in this system? I have to be punished because your system is broken?

Anyway, the RFE is due in 4 days, so we sucked it up today and got a new $250 medical exam. We really needed that money. The system is broken. I really hope someone out there is trying to fix it.

03-12-2010: RFE - argh!

03-18-2010: E-mail saying EAD and AP approved!

03-19-2010: RFE received - Medical Exam has been lost - new one needed

03-20-2010: Contacted Congressman

04-19-2010: Give up the fight, Congressman can't help, got a new physical done

04-22-2010: Surprise, surprise! Passes physical. RFE returned via overnight mail.

04-29-2010: Approval e-mail!

05-07-2010: Permanent Resident Card received! DONE! :)

That stinks! I have a feeling my hubbie will be receiving an RFE too for the medical, since it seems like the norm to lose them. At least you didn't pay too much - I looked into it here in CT and the doc wanted $450. Ugh. If we get an RFE, I will def. shop around!

That truly blows. You should NOT be on the hook for an additional cost given that it was gov't that last it in the first place, regardless at which stage it was lost. Sorry you had to go through that. I would be a very unhappy dude...
