The reason for the Peso being strong is due to the upcoming elections, all the candidiates are pumping out money for campaining, bribing the local barangay captains, putting 500 peso bills in envelopes to buy the peoples votes. In short the economy is in a good state right now because of the abundant amount of money flowing due to election time.

Back when the Peso when up to 55 to 56 was during the time of President Joseph Estrada, this guy was an idiot and many foreign investors backed out of investing in the Philippines hence demanding the need for the US dollar and therefor making the Philippine Peso weak. Joseph was the worst president of all to where the Peso really dipped and economist believe that if he was not ousted the pesos would have gone as high as 75. Luckily when GMA took over, a educated and only slightly corrupt president the peso got its strenght back and went from 56 to now 43, mark my words, after election it will go back to 45 to 48.....

I have a feeling that either NOY NOY or VILLAR will be president, Villar is somewhat corrupt and NOY NOY is secretly corrupt, it remains to be seen where the peso will go.

who would believe this in the Philippines???wacko.gifwacko.gif

Many OFW's were able to build their own houses during the time that the dollar is at 55-56, some benefited from it .

Gasoline was not too high before unlike today!

It is what it is......... Ask many of the ELDERS and politicians, its the truth, WE ARE NOT TALKING ABOUT OFW BUILDING HOMES WHEN THE PESOS WAS AT THE 55-56, WE ARE TALKING ABOUT THE EXCHANGE RATE BLUES, I suggest you do some researching my friend. If its something you cannot accept then I am sorry my friend.

Like what you said.... SOME BENEFITTED(sp?) FROM THIS, as for GASOLINE, ever since the cost of fuel was De-regulated that is when the prices went up, if you look thru time and history, When I lived there back in 1989 1 liter of gas was about 5.25, gulf war came in and it went to 15 pesos a liter and it did not go down even after the war. The problem in the Philippines is that when its comes to raising prices the businesses are fast to do that but when it comes to lowering prices noone wants to do it.

I can go on and on and on, I have many relatives that are politicians if you want to duke it out with me then by all means I dont mind....

GMA took over, a educated and only slightly corrupt president

#######?!!! SLIGHTLY CORRUPT??? she's the most corrupt president the Philippines ever had (if not second to Marcos), compared to Erap, Erap probably only got "pennies" compared to GMA's billions.

BTW. I'n not an Erap supporter, I was there in EDSA in 2001 during the anti-Erap rallies, now I kinda blame myself why GMA became president.

I was being generous by saying SLIGHTLY corrupt, I know she is very corrupt but I just didnt want to offend anyone, but now that the ICE is BROKEN, yes she is very corrupt, but wise, she got the Majority of the Armed Forces on her side thats why she could never get ousted. Then now she is running for a office position in her province so she can avoid prosecution.

I think Noynoy would do a great job if he was president, I just hope that the money and corruption will not get him to CHANGE

I won't argue with you about what might happened to the PESO if Erap wasn't ousted. I also wouldn't argue that GMA being an economist did a better job on the Phil. economy better than Erap. But I will never accept that GMA is LESS corrupt than Erap. This doesn't need researching, I read and watch Philippine news everyday even if I left the country 5 years ago.

I'm not arguing , why some people loves to argue ??? I'm talking about our experience and not the experience of the whole country.. I don't need to talk if I got relatives that are politician cause that's not relevant. we are just talking about dollar rate.

I'm not going to be a hypocrite , we benefited so much with the dollar being 55-56, my parents were dollar earners before and we all love it!!! that's all AMEN!!! star_smile.gif

We are talking about POLITICS so prove to me why, just why is it IRRELEVANT if I say that I have relatives that are politicians ? just prove to me why.......... I mentioned that for the fact we are talking about POLITICIANS to begin with............so please EXPLAIN why and WHAT IS YOUR POINT to say that it is IRRELEVANT..............

I know that you are a female, you will always be right, never be wrong, expect everyone to be a mind reader and im sure that you can even convince other people to accept that they are wrong just because.

Yeah and my Parents were also dollar earners and the exchange rate also fluctuated according who was in office, maybe you need to brush up on your POLITICAL SCIENCE....

CAN I GET A AMEN ?!?!!?!?!? A----MEN !!!

I Totally agree with you, especially with how her children and her husband are taking advantage. If it were up to me she should be ousted just like FERDINAND was. The problem is that she has a good grip with the MILITARY and she has SHORT MAN sydrome.

I'm taking these as offensive...I never said you are wrong ... you are talking beyond your limits

Oh so now you are using the INNOCENT APPROACH, typical to see this, I am sure in your mind that you are CONVINCED that you are correct.....

Anyways I see that you are always on the offense but of course you will deny it.

Like I said, you will always be right and never wrong.

So I am talking beyond my LIMITs ? PROVE it ! Who are you to say this ? who are you to declare this ?

I see your type all the time, you remind me of my sisters and my cousins. They are the type where you tell yourself "YOU JUST CANT WIN"

anyways back to TOPIC.

I say if you want to continue this maybe its better that we just PM each other so I wont be embarrasing you.

This can go either way, maybe you misunderstood me or maybe I misunderstood you, sometimes the Language barrier can do this.

Anyways back to TOPIC
