Interview next week....Domicile Question

My husband has his medical this week and interview next week. I've been reading some of the posts on proving domicile and I have to say I'm becoming a bit concerned.

My husband is a British citizen but has been a PR of Canada for 15 years. After reading a few posts on here, it seems some people have had issues getting approved because of domicile issues. He bought a house in the U.S. almost 2 years ago which I have resided in ever since. When we married, I was then put on the title to the house with him, property taxes etc. He is taking all the information on the closing of the house, property tax receipts, utility bills (some in my name, some in his) and proof of payment for the house. Is there anything else he may need to take? Im just getting VERY nervous and concerned because of some PR of Canada getting denied their CR-1 because of domicile issues. I don't know what the EXACT issue they were having, but if anyone can help shed some light on this or their experiences it would be helpful. Thanks!!!

Hi,

If I am reading this correctly you, the U.S. citizen, are currently residing in/domiciled in the U.S.?

If so, you have absolutely zero to be concerned about :)

The issue only comes up if the U.S. citizen is living in Canada (or any country other than the U.S.). As for your Husband's citizenship/Canadian PR - complete non-issue in this case.

Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!

You read that exactly right. That makes me feel sooo much better! I guess I just got worried when I read another post from someone who was living in the US and their spouse (a PR of Canada) was denied the Visa due to domicile issues. Therefore, waiting even longer to get the Visa. I can't even imagine waiting any longer than we already have! UGH! So, hopefully things will go well and will have my hubby home VERY soon. Thanks again Trailmix...your awesome...as always!
