The laws to prevent such similar abuses are simple.

I propose: BY 101.1

If by actions or lack of, more than 2,000 Americans are caused to be injured in any manner, the person/s involved be tried for treason against the country. Punishable by death.

Surely, if we can throw $1.3 trillion behind chasing cavemen for killing 2,000 Americans, we can go after the people who screwed over millions of Americans. Actually, punish them harder for being American and ###### over their own people.

Well... now that you have wiped out over half of our government...we can now try you, for pushing the law in the first place...

Screwed over at their hands - loss of pension, loss of home, loss of wealth, destruction to landscape or surrounding area (toxic pollution), encouraging Guidos breed

Ok, let's take "loss of wealth".

You didn't specify how much loss of wealth, so I'll assume any amount.

Tomorrow is school board election. At stake is a new school budget that increases property taxes on average home by about $100 a year.

If the budget passes, it will result in a "loss of wealth" to the tune of $100/year for all town homeowners except for those who work for the school district.

The number of people impacted will be well above your 2,000 threshold.

Who do we put to death?

Whole different kettle of fish and you know it. It doesn't take a genius to realize what is corruption and what should be illegal. Your example is certainly not one of them.

I am referring to an individual or business being able to make risky transactions or even use other peoples' money to do so, without disclosing the risk. Furthermore, knowing all well that such transactions could result in a total wipe out. What many of these hedge funds, derivatives, banks and so on did was no different to going to the casino and betting on red or black. The difference is that they were allowed to do it with other people's money, all while they earned millions and even billions in commission. That is not capitalism, that is lunacy.

Why do you think not one Australian bank has failed in this global financial crisis? Because adequate government regulation prevents the same type of corruption and shenanigans that takes place in US corporations, furthermore, from destroying the economy. They're free to do whatever they want with their own money, as long it does not bring down the economy or other people. If it does, prisons wait for them. Just in case someone thinks about pulling an Enron there, directors and executives are now held personally liable in AUS. And don't even bother trying to hide assets under SO or friends, as they can all be retrieved. Not to mention, such shenanigans add to the jail time; with the possibility of those involved also being given a free trip to prison.

Dude, no offense but random characters from me make more sense that 95% of your posts. So it's of no surprise that it went over your IT head.

Why do you think not one Australian bank has failed in this global financial crisis?

Because

1) the property bubble in Australia has not burst (yet), and

2) (when it does) in Australia one cannot walk away from an underwater mortgage. Australian banks will happily stick you with the bill even if you owe more on your home than it's worth.

Are you speaking from experience or are you saying it's a good thing that people in various states can simply walk away from their mortgage, without any repercussions.

Right, because killing people for causing a drop in others net worth makes so much sense.

Speaking of the Australian property bubble, it's not looking good.

It's looking more and more like the US property bubble before the crash. Probably a good time to invest in Australian credit default swaps...

That is a consequence of what you proposed. If you dislike the consequence, I suggest you modify your proposal.
