Hi guys,

it has been a while.. Hi to all new members and to the old ones as well..

We are happy to announce that we are expecting our first child., I want my mom to come over, just because im not sure if i can make it without her =( ill be too scared, and after 3 months im gonna need to come to the office.

Anyone got their mom to come over for the same reason? even for just 6 months? she has no property whatsoever, I heard from some one as well, that my husband can vouch for her?, is that true?

im still on my conditional residency..

Thanks in advance

Jomay =)

She can apply for a Tourist Visa it used to be under 200 bucks, I would take a chance and see if she gets approved. I never heard anyone vouching for a person on Tourist visa.

I would think you are fighting a uphill battle

I agree, it will not be easy.

No reason not to try though...

Good Luck.

The basic rule is that she will need to prove sufficient ties to the Philippines that will make the CO believe she will return after her visit. Ties can include property, employment, other children and anything else which will prove her case. Without this, getting a tourist visa will be very difficult.

The USEM has good reasons to grant your mother a tourist visa:

> Your mother is likely at an age, and a place in her life, where it does not make sense for her to go TNT.

> She surely gets along fine living in the Philippines since you likely send her a monthly allowance.

> Your husband is an American citizen and you are a legal resident. Both of you can send her an invitation and vouch for her.

> It would be difficult and expensive for you, your husband, and your baby to travel to the Philippines in order to visit your mother.

> The U.S. would not be made a safer place by denying lola the opportunity to hold, cuddle, and sing Tagalog songs to her apo.

I hope the Embassy people have a heart...and are reading this thread.

Congratulations on your pregnancy! It's going to be difficult for couple of weeks after you give birth but after that I'm sure you'll be fine. In Philippines, life is easy if you have the money, you can hire a nanny to take care of the baby or maid to do the house chores while recuperating from giving birth but here in US nope, family is away, unless in-laws are near they can offer some help if not, basically you are on your own with the baby after hubby goes back to work.

Hey, why not take a shot? You never know your mom might get approve this time. Good luck! :)
