Good luck on getting in to the customs side...you will probably have to wait just outside the area where they do the customs, so she will do her immgration and customs without you anyway. I hear Guam is pretty low key for immigration. I know from what I have been reading is when Mhay flys through Guam she will only have to do immigration...it will most likely be only her plane doing immigration at the time since it arrives 0430 in the morning. Then she will fly to hawaii and do customs. Layovers wont be bad for her....2 hours in Guam and 3 hours in Hawaii. I would meet Mhay in hawaii, but I couldnt get down there in time to turn around and come back. For the 6-700 it would cost me to do that, it isnt worth it. We can buy a lot of stuff for the house for that amount. Good luck on the trip! I will post Mhay's experience after she flys.

We did POE at LAX and it was simple and easy. They put Linh and I in the US Citizen line and the CBP officer had K1 petitioned her husband. So it was a breeze. Though the CBP did tell me I'd better be nice to Linh. :)

I can't imagine that you'll get anywhere inside.

Well the problem is that NO one offers direct flights except PAL and then it's only to a few destinations. I live in Wichita Kansas so I'll fly to her port of entry where ever it is. All the airlines that I've checked stop somewhere, either Guam, S. Korea, Japan..etc. The stop in Taipei is short and the airport is easy to get around in. I'd rather she not do her POE in Guam - at least I'd be there for the LAX entry. I'm not nearly as worried about spending an extra couple of hundred bucks either, that's why I was asking about the easiest route for immigration. It's a whole different deal if it's just me flying as a tourist :)

Hey Brother why dont you have her fly a direct flight from Manila to Las Vegas and use Vegas as her POE, its a very small airport and I promise you that she will not get disoriented or lost, then at the same time the both of you can have a fun few days here...... Its $750 with PAL, I know some travel agencies if you are interested.

LAX was my POE. I was very fortunate that the IO who interviewed me is Filipino-American. :P He's a really nice fellow. Maybe Merlaine will also get to meet him there. ;)

Hi Kevin..I bought a ticket for my fiancee on PAL into LAX. It was either PAL or Cathay, and since I wanted Barbie to be as comfortable as possible, we decided on PAL (even though they are probably one of the worst rated asian airlines) because she can probably communicate better if there is something she doesn't understand about filling up the immigration paper. Also its a direct flight, so thats good.

I've been through the international terminal many times. They are currently renovating the terminal, so there are lots of signs to direct passengers on where to go. I doubt your lady would get lost as basically all the passengers head for the same area. For USCs, the immigration line isn't too long and the Officers are pretty quick. For immigrants/non-immigrants though, it takes awhile because of the paperwork check, finger prints, and photo taking (all done digitally), but there are many more lines for immigrants/non-immigrants than USCs. Personally, I think many immigrants/non-immigrants can get flustered through this process because LAX is a major POE, therefore the Officers scrutinize more. If i didn't live around LA, I would probably have Las Vegas as the POE for the reasons teamster said above.

Just my .02

teamster631...The direct flight to Las Vegas is a great idea. And the Vegas airport is easy to navigate like you said.

You jogged my memory with your idea...I had heard about the direct flight to Vegas before. However, I went to PAL's website and also kayak's website, but I could not find it. If I remember correctly, the direct flight to Vegas is only one day per week. Any info about it?

Those are some good prices on St. Raphael's site teacher! Have you used this service much? I wanted to check into Korean Air's rates but you can't even check prices for MNL departures. You just get an error popup from their website "Tickets from the Phils must be purchased in the Phils by law.." It might be pretty nice to fly her all the way to Dallas.

kevin another idea for you try Hawiaan Air ....you can have HI be her POE very small airport not a long layover....you can get a flight right from manila to Phoenix (with a 1 1/2 hourlayover...total flight time 18 hours...I paid 500) then you can get a short plane ride to your airport through southwest for $97 ...Also most of HI are filipino and she will get tyhrough so quick they only asked Pam 2 questions and the girl that she talked to was Filipino

what would I do without the love you give me.

LAX for me was a great POE. But I arrived with only few planes arrived altogether, and also its night time. The airport wasn't that busy.

Plus the boarder officer who got my biometrics was a filipino so it was a sweet encounter. 10 mins I'm off.

They actually fly 4 times a week, call this Lady her name is Connie, she is a Travel agent for PAL @ 7023845600 she can give you a good price and all the info you need, just be sure to tell her you want PAL.

Keep in mind that HAWAIIAN AIRLINES does the same thing.
