My Uk based Fiancee has just phone the London Embassy. She has return the form stating she has all evidence and is awaiting the interview date. The K1 timeline states this takes about 1 week. However she phoned the USA London embassy, they said it can take up to 12 weeks!!!!!!!!

Is this true? Is it even possible? Anyone else recently got an interview in London for K1?

"As of February 2006, waiting time is still varying between 4 and 12 weeks, but processing seems to be speeding up again after a dramatic slowdown in the fall of 2005. 8 weeks is now about standard, but as always, your mileage may vary. An interview date is *sometimes* issued more quickly if applicants can show that they have concrete wedding/travel plans, but not always. If applying through London, plan for a 10-12 week wait in between the Consulate's receipt of packet 3 and the actual interview. E-mail is definitely the best way to contact London if necessary."

Thanks for the information, I heard a date and panicked. But that about 12 weeks is from when the embassy recieves the info from USCIS?

That's the info found under "Approx Waiting Time for interview date from when the Consulate receives the package from the NVC" at the link I posted above.

The embassy will always tell you the maximum time as then they have their backs covered. I was also told 12 weeks and panicked big time as I had already quit my job. Luckily I got my interview after 2 weeks of persistently e mailing them. It also helps sometimes if you have put a move date and wedding date on your packet 3 forms as they tend to prioritize the ones who have dates sooner than later.

I hate to be thick, but who sends out the Packet 3? NVC or London? How long after the NOA2 will the dearly beloved get the packet? Will it help to email them daily?

We've got a hall and all the associated extras booked for December 30th. If something doesn't happen soon we're up the proverbial creek sans paddle...

A word of warning - they do not like repeat emails

Just send one email to let them know that your case left NVC and ask them to let you know when it arrives also it might be a good idea to mention your wedding date. They will reply but it usually takes a few days - so DO NOT REPEAT THE EMAIL.
