So I went to check my status for our K1 visa and it says initial review and has said that for like 2 weeks. Will it ever be updated or if everything goes smooth will it just be updated when it is approved? What have others experienced? Just curios because I'm so excited to get the updates and getting closer to THE DAY!

Mine said initial review for over three months.

It won't change until they have come to a conclusion on your petition or if you receive an RFE.

I checked your timeline and you have just really started the process.

I wouldn't expect any updates for a couple months yet. Hopefully they come sooner than later for ya!

Oh and to make sure you know when updates are made on your case I recommend applying the text and email notifications on the USCIS website!

Good luck with everything

Not uncommon at all for it to sit in this status until NOA2 is sent. Your very early on so you will have the heebie jeebies for awhile. Sometimes you will see a "touched" notification but it really doesn't mean anything other than it was in fact touched (maybe moved from one file to another.

The next significant notification will be NOA2.

And just to be clear, at this stage, it's not the K1 visa you're checking up on. It's the I 129f petition. You (or your fiancee - not sure which of you is the Canadian) do not apply for the visa until the approved petition makes its way to the consulate.

Also, moving thread from K1 process forum to K1 progress forum.
