canadian citizen connecting flight in US with prior denial to US is it possible?

clean record in Canada-got denied entrance in 08/08.

married american citizen in 12/09.

marriage petition has been filed but has not been approved yet.

is it possible for me to travel to US while waiting for marriage petition to be approved?

also can I connect to US while traveling to a different country?

thank you very much for your answers.

If you were denied entry, then you will need to bring sufficient ties to Canada when (even connecting) traveling to the US. Expect to be pulled into secondary screening and admittance and duration of stay is up to the CBP at the time of crossing.

Nothing is guarenteed.
