Need to renew Thai passport

Okay so I was just catching up on a few things (like doing the on-line AR-11 to change our address) and noticed that her passport is going to expire this week... any idea how we renew her passport here in the US?

Our Visa Journey

07/29/07 ---- Mailed I-129F

08/25/07 --- Check finally cashed (8/27 I should be able to see the R number on the back).

08/27/07 --- NOA1 Arrives from CSC and I create my account profile on the USCIS.Gov web-site (the clock starts)!!!

02/05/08 --- After 191 days NOA2 (Approval) comes at last!!!!

2/14/08 --- NVC sends letter saying that it's on the way to the US Embassy in Bangkok

2/25/08 --- She receives Packet 3 from the Embassy

3/29/08 --- She receives Packet 4 with interview date (July 11th).

3/30/08 --- I e-mail the Embassy asking to make the date earlier because I've already got our tickets for June 13th!!!

5/6/08 --- No help from the Embassy. Rebooked tickets and vacation till September.

5/21/08 --- Embassy calls her and moves interview to May 27th!!!!! You have got to be kidding me!!!

9/21/08 --- POE San Francisco!!!!

12/8/08 --- Married!!!!

12/15/08 --- Mail AOS + AP + EAD package to Chicago

12/28/08 --- Come back from vacation and find AOS/AP/EAD NOA 1 and Bio App notices in the mailbox!!!

1/13/09 --- Bio Appt

4/22/09 --- AOS Interview "APPROVED"!!!

3/04/2011 --- OUR BABY IS BORN... We have a son!!!!!

3/10/2011 --- Mail I-751 application to lift conditions on residency

3/12/2011 --- I-751 Package received by CSC

3/14/2011 --- NOA 1

3/21/2011 --- NOA 2 (Biometrics Appt 4/18/2011)

5/27/2011 --- ROC Approved. 10 Year Green Card arrived 6/04/2011

Sorry, I'm not from Thailand and can not read Thai language.

There's an English page about the requirements on the old site (http://www.thai-la.net/passport/pp-non-e-passport-eng.htm)I'm going to have to call them tomorrow and find out what we have to actually send. I'm, as I'm sure you can understand, not crazy about the idea of sending her passport away but I'll get over that. I mean we've been married for just over a year now so her K1 Visa is very expired!!!

If I understand the site correctly they want her origional Thai ID card as well.

hi there, my husband just renewed last month, we had to go in person but it worked out since we were going to be in l.a. anyway. my husband had the old passport with no chip in it so he had to appear in person and yes the original i.d. card and housebook were needed.

the nice thing about the consulate in L.A. is that you can call and get a live person, call and ask them what she needs. i assume the details are different if she is changing her name etc. also fyi, the english page is full of errors so it's worthless.

long story short just phone them, your wife can get the details of what she'll need to renew fairly easily and painlessly by phone.

24 NOV 2010 Package returned because USC didn't sign petition (day 6)

03 DEC 2010 Hardcopy of NOA received (day 7)

07 JAN 2011 Successful walk in biometrics (day 42) original date 1 FEB

01 MAR 2011 Date on Approval notice (although it arrived after the card did) (day 94)

Your timeline says you are in Michigan. Much easier to go to Chicago vs. LA:

10/02/2007 - K-4 Interviews - approved

10/12/2007 - Everyone back to USA!

06/20/2008 - Mailed I-485, I-765 (plus I-130 for children)

06/27/2008 - NOA1 for I-485, I-765, and I-130s

07/16/2008 - Biometrics appointment

08/28/2008 - EAD cards received

11/20/2008 - AOS Interviews - approved

Thought I'd update on this... guess I forgot b4.

So the Thai Consulate General in Chicago has this moble service they do every other weekend or once a month or something. Anyway they came to St. Louis, MO so we drove there (4 hours) instead of going all the way to Chicago. It was great because they had a Thai New Year Festival at the Wat where they held to consulate office thing. We filled out all the paper work and they take the necessary pic's and do bio-metrics etc. A few weeks later we had her new passport.

Couldn't have been easier.

Shame that the US Consulate offices around the world would never think of doing something like this!!!
