So about 2 weeks after our case has been received, USCIS

transferred this case I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS to CALIFORNIA SERVICE CENTER location for processing

I'm confused since my local office should be the one in Baltimore. What does this mean? What to expect now?

Also, when I tracked my EAD application, I received the following:

On April 12, 2010, the post office returned the notice we last sent you on this case I765 APPLICATION FOR EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZATION as undeliverable. This may have serious effects on processing this case. Please call 1-800-375-5283 to update your mailing address for this notice to be re-sent.

I don't know what could have caused the mail to be undeliverable. We received NOA1 just fine and I just checked the address on my I-765 application, the address was correct.

Hey You -

1. transfer to California, historically, has meant that the green card will be issued WITHOUT an interview at the local USCIS office. If that's still the case in April - wei - that's excellent news for you !

2. Call the USCIS hotline, GET A HUMAN and verify the thing they tried to mail to you - tell them that you've NOT moved, and that you have the SAME ADDRESS, and to RE-MAIL the thing. They most likely will not tell you WHAT IS WAS (I'm guessing it was a biometrics appointment) and they cannot even verify to which address it was SENT TO - but - they CAN RE-MAIL it, based on your phone call. IF it was a BIOMETRICS APPOINTMENT, be warned - your biometrics appointment at the local ASC office (NOT USCIS OFFICE) may be coming up soonish. IF / WHEN you get that remailed letter in hand, IF the biometrics appointment date is PAST the date you actually receive it - just GO IN to the ASC office with that letter in hand, bug the security guard about a mis-mailed postal letter, until they let you in.

3. GO TO YOUR POST BOX - paste or tape a card INSIDE the post box, containing YOUR CURRENT NAME, YOUR VISA NAME, and yer HUSBAND's NAME. It's possible the postal carrier, on that day, got confused. It happens, it sucks, and now you suffer. At this stage, you need to make friends with the POSTAL CARRIER, so try to meet the postal carrier at yer location , when they are delivering mail, with a plate of freshly-cooked (steamed or fried) jiaoxi. It's the best way to make guanxi with yer postal carrier, and SERIOUSLY - you NEED THAT, currently.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

There are 2 biometrics appointments,

1 for the greencard

1 for the EAD

WHICH do you have?

(call USCIS on Monday, talk to that operator, regardless, and do cook up some jiaoxi , get ready, la )

Both. They are scheduled on the same day. I received the letter of biometric appointments almost together with NOA1.

Is it possible the lost letter could be the NOA2? Work authorization does come a lot quicker than AOS, usually. If it is in fact the NOA2, that will allow you to get a SSN.

Having a SSN will generally allow you to be added to existing bank and credit accounts, which can be helpful "evidence" at the AOS interview.

K3 Interview 05/20/2009

POE Atlanta 05/26/2009

EAD NOA1 06/01/2009

EAD NOA2 08/2009

I-485 Sent 04/07/2010

I-485 NOA1 04/16/2010

Biometrics 04/28/2010 (assigned appt. date is 5/17/10, but we did an early walk-in with no problems!)

I-485 Interview 09/13/2010 (originally set for July, but had to reschedule, since we were in Europe then)

Waiting on GC to come in the mail!!!
