We got a new kitten!

Last thursday I went downstairs to do the laundry and this little black streak of lightning was running around after everyone mewing... I went over to it and it ran up to me purring so I picked it up and it snuggled into my arms and I took it upstairs because it had no collar or signs of ownership and it was thin and hungry and obviously desperate for attention so it was either lost or abandoned...

We've got two cats already and they hated it. There was much hisspitting and growling and shuffling for territory, so we decided we couldn't keep it... We took it to the animal shelter on Sunday to get them to find a new home for it and they said that it was too old (it's about four months old for petes sake!) and too black and nobody would want it :( So they said it would be put down on Wednesday... I ran out of there crying and then John talked to them and to make a long story short, Tessie is ours. We paid the adoption fee and they spayed her and vet-checked her and said she's a very healthy well-adjusted kitten, and she's sitting in our craftroom not knowing how lucky she is to still be alive... Scouty and Silver aren't too bothered by her right now and I'm hoping that they're going to stay that way! Then we can all live happily ever after in our apartment...

Awww!! :)

Imagine that, first they say hes to old and then talk about putting him down and then have the gull to charge you to adopt him????????? I would have walked out with him heck you found him in the first place :angry: But I'm sure glad hes got a good home now. :thumbs:

I had that same thought, but then thought, aww well, they checked her out and spayed her. The other thing I thought was odd was "she's too black"?????????????????????????? :huh:

How could they plan to put the poor kitten to sleep??? Too old at 4 months??? #######?! Grrr :angry: Luckily she's got a good home now. The kitten obviously has good taste ;) I would've kept her too :) She looks a lot like our cat Maya except Maya's fluffier. Black kitties rule :thumbs:

December 13, 2007 - I-751 submitted to NSC (removing of conditions fun begins...)

December 22 - Received a rejection notice because the form was not "properly signed". Package itself was not returned.

January 1, 2008 - Received packet back from CSC. They are requesting we resubmit the packet (which is already organized by CSC) with a properly signed form.

January 2 - Packet resubmitted to California.

January 12 - NOA1 received (dated 01/07/2008)

January 19 - Biometrics appointment notice received (dated 01/15/2008)

February 1 - Biometrics

March 11 - Approved! Card production ordered (notified via e-mail).

March 20, 2008 - New card arrived in the mail :)

Done until 2018 :)

I thought the same thing about the adoption fee. If you brought him in how can they charge you to adopt him? Unless I read the story wrong......

She looks like one of these Egyptian cats -- big ears, short hair. Very nice. I think black cats are cool. We have a black one too.

12-07-2005 Attempt at interim EAD at San Francisco office -- no go. Back to San Jose, where CSO (chief station officer) tells they will contact MSC via email to request permission to issue interim EAD

12-08-2005 Biometrics for AOS and EAD. Having no EAD appt letter was no problem (used EAD NOA)

12-15-2005 EAD arrived in the mail

12-24-2005 Received interview letter; interview scheduled 03-01-2006

01-28-2006 Received replacement SSN card in married name (5 wks since application)

We paid the adoption fee because for that $70 they'd make her officially 'ours'... plus they gave her a rabies shot and a registration tag, spayed her, and checked her for diseases and parasites and gave her flea medicine and generally made sure she was healthy... sure we could have walked out of there with her without doing the paperwork, since we walked IN with her, but then we'd have had an unspayed, unvaccinated, unhealthchecked kitty on our hands and taking her to our own vet would cost a lot more than seventy bucks! So it was worth it...

Awww she's cute.

We have 7 cats and when my hubby went to Petsmart to buy some toys for the then 2 kitties he already had, he saw they had adoption day there.

He saw our cat snowy who is 5 yrs old and pure white. The lady told him White cats are very hard to adopt out same as all black ones. People just don't like them much. Of course he took her home! She really is a sweet cat too.

Don't worry about the other cats not getting along with the new one. Ours still fight now and then but for the most part they're all buddies!
