For those of you who have recently gone through the interview process I have a few questions..

1) Which vaccines if any did the doctor tell you that you needed? My fiancee doesn't have medical records and based on the following document I believe she will need Varicella, Tetanus and possibly Hepatitis A & B. We would like to get them before the medical exam if possible.

http://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/PDF/wk/mm5753-Immunization.pdf

2) Is it difficult to schedule an appointment with the two "embassy" doctors? My fear is not being able to schedule the appointment in time for the interview.

3) Also how was your experience with the doctor?

Once again thank you for your help

When I saw the doctor, he thought that I needed the DPT (tetanus) but I showed him my vaccine record, I had the second shot last november, so it was not necessary another.

the vaccines required are: DPT, varicella and MMR. If she had varicella when she was a child does not require this vaccine.

2) Is it difficult to schedule an appointment with the two "embassy" doctors? My fear is not being able to schedule the appointment in time for the interview.

Is not difficult, I scheduled the appointment with Dr. Roa 2 days before the interview (I don't live in Bogota)

3) Also how was your experience with the doctor?

it was easy, no issues, he makes a general physical examination, take a look, is very respectful

Once again thank you for your help

you're welcome. I checked your timeline, you have news from NVC? in what stage you are now?

Thanks for asking.. I just updated my timeline and right now my Fiance is in the process of gathering all of the required documents before we send form DS-230 and DS-2100 to the Embassy. She just got her sealed DAS immigration document yesterday and she will be faxing the DS-230 and DS-2100 forms to the Embassy tomorrow.

Next week she will also go to the doctor to get the MMR, Varicella & Tetanus vaccines.

I'm expecting that we will have an interview in June since we were not able to send the documents by 4/15.

Again thank you so much for your help

Hello,

My fiance was able to do her vaccines in her home city. The only problem she had was at the embassy doctor. My fiance had some vaccines in late March and some in the first week of April. The embassy doctor told my fiance she needed 3 vaccines in April and could not have them in March. He said they needed to be given to her in the same month as the interview. I have no idea if this true or not but, he got another $100.00 from her for the same vaccines a few weeks later.

I hope this helps

Thanks for the advice.. It sounds like that doctor was trying to get extra money.. Im no doctor but getting a vaccine in march should not require that another vaccine be taken in April.

Thanks again for the reply

It's an old trick that both doctors pull with almost every single beneficiary. My husband got his shots 4 months before his medical and the doctor told him that they were "too old" and told him he had to get all of them again, at his office. He was not allowed to go somewhere else to get them. Many of us have complained about this and I believe some people have brought it up with the US embassy but nothing's changed.
