What can I do to prepare for my interview while I'm visiting the U.S.?

HOPEFULLY...if the border officer allows it...I will be leaving Tuesday to visit Tim and will be returning early August. We already received the NOA1 a couple weeks ago.

What kind of things can I do to prepare for my interview (wayyyyyyy down the line, because after all it'll be in Montreal)? :P I know I need to have my vaccinations up to date, and have the police check done, and of course I realize that all has to be done from Canada. (I just hope I'm giving myself enough time to do that when I get back in August.) But basically I'm asking if there's anything I can do/research while I'm visiting Tim?

I would have been starting the police check thing soon, but with Tim's recent health setback I need to be down there with him right now. Besides, being "home" together will help to pass some time while we wait for processing.

There really isn't much to do aside from the things you've mentioned.

Have you taken a look at the example P3? If not its on the Canada Wiki page. It will tell you everything you'll need come interview time- forms, documents, evidence, etc. Canada Wiki

It also might be a good time to have him prepare the I-134 and collect financial documentation you'll need, like ordering his tax transcripts, collecting pay stubs, getting a letter from his employer etc.

I can't really think of anything else, other than enjoying your time together :) Have fun!

When I visited my now-wife after the NOA2 but before the interview, we took the opportunity for me to pick up several things that would be needed for the interview, just to avoid having to mail them. In particular, I brought back signed updated letters of intent to marry, all of the evidence and documentation for the I-134 and I-864 affidavits of support, and updated evidence of our ongoing relationship - more items from since the I-129 submission: updated phone logs, emails, photos, the ring receipt (if you have one, if you don't it's ok), etc. The relationship evidences should be signed and dated by both of you.

Check again from your Packet 3 checklist, but that should be everything from it that needs your fiance's direct personal involvement. Unlike the initial petition, the visa application is much more by and about you than your USC fiance.

Have a great trip!

Thanks, guys. You've been helpful, as always. :)

I am SOOOOOOOOO getting butterflies in my stomach right now, thinking about seeing Tim's smiling face again at the airport on Tuesday. He keeps threatening to "touch" me. Should I be afraid? Ahhhhh...It'll be so nice just to be close enough again to touch. I just hate this distance.....as everyone else around here does.

I would make sure to take a few photographs of you together on your trip for more "proof of relationship" (although from the reviews I've been reading, MTL doesn't typically ask for photos), and you could gather some stuff that relates to your upcoming wedding, if you've been making plans for that. I plan to show the interviewer an email that confirms when my appointment is at City Hall (for the marriage ceremony), but you could also show them any other documents that show you're planning a wedding.

In the meantime, I'd also suggest reading the reviews of the Montreal consolate. It'll put your mind at ease about how simple the interview will be :D
