Picking up your passport from VFS Chennai

My wife has her IR1 visa interview in Chennai on May 4th. We are planning to pick up the passport from the VFS window. Can anyone confirm if we can pick it up the same day or if its issued next day?

There doesn't seem to be an exact answer to this, but if you look at the Chennai Consulate Reviews and Interview experiences you will see some people who were told VFS will mail it to them and other who were told to contact the VFS directly for the visa.

I think you are right. I called VFS yesterday. They said they cannot gurantee same day pick up and its depends on when the consulate hands them over. If I am not able to collect it the same day then I will just wait for the courier.
