?? about green card and moving abroad

Timeline

my wife has a green card now for a year.

and we are trying to gain information on moving abroad for 6-7 months of the year.

what are my (us citizen) and her (russian) with greencard requirements to stay there( St. Petersburg to be specific. ) for 6-7 months a year.

and not lose her greencard and for me to stay legal in russia for that length of time. any website or info is a great help.

Go to USCIS.gov and search maintaining permanent residence.

Returning residents who have been absent for more than 6 months may be subject to secondary inspection by CBP, and they may presume she's abandoned residency if they find evidence to confirm this. If she's gone more than a year then they will presume she's abandoned residency unless she obtained a re-entry permit before leaving. Your best bet would be to get a re-entry permit, just to be safe.

I assume your wife has a conditional green card (you said she's had the card for a year). 90 days before that card expires, she and you must file to remove conditions on the card. She will need to be in the US for the biometrics and possible interview. If she gets a re-entry permit before lifting conditions then it will only be valid until her conditional green card expires. After she gets her unconditional green card, she should be able to get a re-entry permit with a two year term.
