K1 age at the interview in Vancouver

My fiance is 18. He will be 19 two weeks after his interview. Anyway, as I understand it, 19 is the magical age in BC. Does he need parental permission to marry taken to the interview with him? >.>

He could get married at 18 here, and he'll be 19 by that time anyway, but I don't want something so stupid to cause a denial.

I can't seem to find if it only matters where the marriage is taking place, or if his being 18 at the interview will cause a problem. Anything I did find spoke of being 18, but then, that doesn't mean much if 19 is the age there.

Any thoughts?

I don't have any documentation to back this up, but I'd imagine the legal age to marry in the state where you'd be getting married is what's relevant... BC's government shouldn't care what he's doing in another country.

According to a few links I googled...the age of majority in BC is 19

I don;t really know how that fits in with his VISA being approved when he's still 18

Well, I'm not sure, but you can't marry until you have a visa, which happens after the interview - you have 6 months to active it and 3 months to marry when it is activated..so he's going to be legal age. Also, he has to marry in the united states and fall under the laws/requirements of the state you are marrying...and his interview is taking place in an american embassy not a canadian/provincial office.

I'm not sure if it's going to be an issue but I wouldn't think it is.. It can't hurt to take the document just in case.

Requirements for a K-1 visa

Both fiancées must be eligible to be lawfully married in the state of residence of the petitioner. For example, at the time the visa petition is filed, as well as at issuance, they must both be of legal age, and not already married to each other or to anyone else.
