:help: Now that my fiance has received the visa he has been looking into flights and prices to the US. He is from Turkey and the travel agents are telling him that he has to buy a roundtrip ticket to the US. If he doesn't have a roundtrip ticket to the US they say he will encounter problems when he arrives??? Is there any truth in this? I've never heard of this... I told him it's not true, but I wanted to make sure! Does anybody out there know anything about this? Thanks for your help!

Since the K1 allows him to enter the US and marry you and then adjust his status without leaving the country, there is no reason for a round-trip ticket. But it might cost less to buy one and then not use the return. . . whatever works for you. The travel agents are clueless and don't understand that he ISN'T going to return to Turkey anytime soon and probably aren't accustomed to this situation.

Agree with that. RT ticket is not required.

Typically, from my experience, one way tickets cost 80% of a RT, sometimes more.

Perhaps you can use the return portion later on? Usually, they are good for 1 year, depending on the airline.

You can take a return if it is cheaper, with a date that you can change and use it when you go on holiday in your family... Turkey is such a beautiful country !

If you buy the tickets online, you can put her name as the passenger and pay with your credit card. You send her the e-ticket via email and she can print it out from her computer and use the ticket.

I guess yes, but if not the company can send them to her directly or make the hard copy available in the airport. You can email the company to make sure.

The person who pays and the one who travel can be different for sure (as for people travelling for their job and their company pays for the ticket)

I agree with everyone saying the RT might even be cheaper...but to those saying to save the other leg of it...usually if you change the date on it, they will need a date right there and then to change it to...there usually is a fee...and even if there's not a fee and you can use it whenever (which is unlikely)...you're going to run into the same probbo geting ANOTHER ticket to come back from your trip.

Get whatever's cheapest...if it's a return tix...just forget about the other bit.

In Turkey when I bought my husband his round trip ticket online from his home town to Istanbul and back I had to produce the credit card it was charged too, which caused him a problem as when I left Istanbul for the USA he still had to use his online ticket and I had my credit card. So before I left we had to cash in the one ticket and buy the another one at the airport. Make sure there are no ticket restrictions like that. Since then we have a joint charge card so he can get his own ticket to meet me in Istanbul when i come to visit.

Hope he has a good trip here!!!

Michele

p.s. I will take the return ticket for a visit to Turkey!!!

OUR K-3 INTERVIEW WAS ON NOV. 1ST @ 10:00!!!

VISA APPROVED!!!

WE ARRIVE IN THE USA ON NOV. 10TH!!!
