I don't care if she DOES need it or not. That isn't the issue. The issue was that the initial post made it sound as if it were expected, common, and a requirement, really. How could someone NOT think that it was all about the money when she's already asking how she should go about it?

That was my point about the cultural norm in the Philippines. This sence of entitlement after engagement is not the norm.

It seems that the overwhelming majority here would say that it is not your fiance's responsibility. But that doesn't mean that he won't want to help if you're in a touch financial situation. It would be best to discuss it with him, right?

the real advise is " FIRST IMPRESSION LAST " the TRUST/DISHONESTY are the CONSEQUENCES in a RELATIONSHIP, specially at the start of the relationship and till you got married.

Aye, I know that. (My best friend and previous roommate for 8 years is Filipino) Was commenting on the tone of her post. I have no idea where she got the idea that it's the USC's duty to send her "MONTHLY" cheques now. Is it a job? Is he paying for a service? Rent? I mean, really...... #######?

your fiance has no legal obligation to support you financially. after all, you are not married yet. you, better than anyone else here, would know if he is able to do so. think long and hard before asking him about such as his reaction to that might be far less than pleasant.
