:ot: Lisa, did you used to beat up the geeks at school for their lunch money? :P

har har har

Yanno, it's so odd to me that just because I will respond rudely to something that I think is rude.....because I'm not afraid to say things the way I see it, I'm labeled a ballbreaking bully. hahahaha

Fluffy kittens and cotton candy were never my thing  So it's all good!

Oh come on now...I'm teasing...there is a difference Miss Ginsu.

I know you were Dragon Boy, just using your post to justify a mini-rant

I couldn't help but thinking, while out and about on the island of Kauai, the earlier discussion about working after getting to the US.

If it weren't for Filipinas working on this island, the tourist industry would come crashing to its knees! All the hotels would shut down, all the fast food restaurants and many other restaurants would have to close, and many of the larger retail stores, like Wal Mart and K-Mart would have to close!

Just wanted to share that observation.

They are all here as either immigrants or 2nd/3rd generation citizens, and were either brought here by family members, or married to USCs. The Filipino community in Hawaii is very large, and is the third largest ethnic group, after the Chinese and Japanese, and have been here for 100 years. They were originally brought here to work in the sugar cane and pineapple fields. Even today, most of the plantation workers are Filipino, known as “sakadas”. The last group of sakadas to come to Hawaii was in 1946, just before the Philippines were given their independence. Before that, plantation owners were able to go around the immigration laws, which made it difficult to bring Chinese and other immigrant workers, and bring Filipino workers here since the Philippines was a U.S. territory.

I think they are the largest ethnic group behind hispanics here in California. When Jinky talks about being here, she thinks people will notice that she's a foreigner and I tell her no worries, this place (Cali) is nothing but foreigners.

You got that right. A westerner in Asia draws more attention than an Asian in California, especially LA or SFO!!!

Why is it that having some measure of tact has now been labeled as "Sunshine and rainbows?" Sounds to me like an attempt to exaggerate in order to make those who enjoy speaking harshly sound more reasonable. I just don't understand how some people are proud of their lack of tact.

got to wait for this thread to die down so we can redo Am I overreacting

Well IMO...... a clique is a group of bitches who take pleasure from causing upset and pain to another.....

It does not matter is its in a forum or in life it is the same result..... somepeople treat others posts as though they are a soap on TV for them to enjoy and make there own.... VJ is not a chat room it is a forum for people seeking help with immigration issues and yes they effect our personal lives as well as just paperwork and questions.....

No one has the right to go out of there way to have fun at the expence of others...

My advice to your future husband is:-

RUN, RUN AWAY, RAN AS FAST AS YOU CAN,

my thoughts to you is:-

TAKE SOME PRIDE IN YOURSELF, SHOW YOUR FUTURE HUSBAND THAT YES YOU MAY NOT HAVE MUCH BUT YOU CAN AND WILL DO ALL YOU CAN TO BE RESPONSIBLE AND YOU ARE NOT LOOKING FOR A FREE TICKET TO A US BANK ACCOUNT...

Of course maybe that is what you are looking for $$$$

Yes I gave my opnion.....and after reading some of the posts I have tried to look at it from others point of view.... I am from Scotland where to assume someone is going to support you as soon as you are engaged would not be exceptable..... but after doing some reading on regional forums it would seem that this practice is very common in the OP's country.... but at no time was I rude or turn it into a ###### fight..... lets just say.. I hope that at some future point in your life when you are feeling not so assured of yourself you dont come across someone just like you... I may be wrong but you come across as someone who dont give a F**k about who you hurt with your actions and words....

The only difference between you and me (for the sake of this thread) is that I haven't changed my opinion and you have.

...but since you've changed yours, I - and others who still hold to their opinion - don't have the right to believe what we do because you've deemed it wrong. The very same opinion you had in the first place. If you'll notice, I have always held fast to the idea that IF I am wrong I will apologise. You, on the other hand (if I'm not mistaken) have come to the conclusion that your first thought was rude, looking like you don't give a f&ck about ppl you hurt with your actions and your words, etc...everything you project on me, actually...and yet I think I missed your apology to the OP. Did I overlook it Kezzie where you apologised to her for doing the same thing you blanketly condem others for?

And make no mistake about it...your original post was very harsh. So can you explain to me how you feel entitled to do and feel whatever you want, and at the same time pass judgement on someone else for doing the same? Kezzie, I'm really not looking for a fight here...but I am astounded how these rules of free speech seem so selective to some....

BBL this afternoon...I'm goin to work :)

I have to say...VALID point there on Lisa's part Kezzie. I don't like to gang up on ppl so please don't take it like I am. But what she has pointed out is very true. You seemed to have waivered from your original post here. There have been other times as well Kezzie where your responses have come across as very rude. I don't know if you mean them to be that way or what, I do know that things when said on the internet can get misconstrued quite easily. I am not going to sit here and judge anyone, but I have to agree with Lisa on this one.
