Why is it that having some measure of tact has now been labeled as "Sunshine and rainbows?" Sounds to me like an attempt to exaggerate in order to make those who enjoy speaking harshly sound more reasonable. I just don't understand how some people are proud of their lack of tact.

Jenn, I agree with you to a point. I believe that yes you can say what you mean with tact without it being sunshine and rainbows. But sometimes, after trying to help someone repeatedly, then yes it is time to get out the armour and say it like you really want to say it if that makes any sense. I don't want ppl to attack me just for asking a question....but sometimes, I can see where it is necessary to just be blunt and straight to the point.

Don't know about anyone else, but when *I* refer to the Sunshine and Rainbows Brigade, I am not referring to those who answer nicely and politely; I'm referring to those who do so AND tell everyone else how they can and cannot post.

Those of us who have taken the skeptical view have posted giving our opinions without telling the opposing view to stop being so happy, to not post if they can't say something bad, etc. The Rainbow Brigade, however, posts giving their view AND telling us to not post anything if we can't say something nice, or "why you are wrong", or some such thing.

The irony of it is, the Happy Happy Rainbow Brigade is the group that comes across as b1tchy, while it should be apparent to all that the rest of us are just defending our right to have our own opinion and to voice it without censorship or harassment.

I agree. But I think that those without tact are labeling reasonable responses as "sunshine" responses in order to defend their posting "gold digger" pictures. For example,

Reply 1: I'm sure everthing is going to be just fine. I wish you luck.

Reply 2: Get off your lazy butt and get a job and buy some food and a coat.

Maybe an appropriate response might be reply 2, but with some tact. It sounds like some people are saying that if you don't like to reply in the same manner as reply 2, that you are living in "la la land", and that you're blowing sunshine up people's ###.

It just seems like being outright nasty is being euphemised as "telling like it is". While being tactful is being exaggerated as "sunshine and rainbows".

I am not going to tell you the name of the person who sent me a pm (not the OP) - but she basically said to me that given the manner in which people are treated here she feels discouraged and were it not for the fact that she loves her man she would not continue with the visa process... I find that a very sad thing... that far from finding support here that people feel discouraged. This community has been so supportive and caring of me... there are people I will always feel indebted to for the manner in which they were there for me - I include Lorelle, JayLen, JayJay, Nayalamb, welshie, Tracy, Gwen, Dean, Arijit, Jamie and Vipul, and so many others, too numerable for me to list... I find it tragic that this same community has become so lacking in support to others.
