It was the nature in which some people resorted to nasty insults toward her that play up to the stereotype of a young Filipina looking for an Americano to take care of her.

thats how the CO will see it! they will say to her in her face! thats how they do it!

they will say " how much he paying you? " , if she sayes " nothing " then she is a LIER.

if she say " well...." . they will Prod her til she gets the answer they want out of her.

you dont want your sweetie to LIE- do ya?

Shon, sending money to your fiancee is NOT a black mark against getting her visa approved, nor is it an indication of fraud whatsoever! Where are you coming from?

I can't speak toward the K1 visa and providing money. But in the K3 and CR-1 if anything sending money to your spouse is a sure fire way to support your case that the marriage is indeed valid. Especially if you have joint tax returns and joint checking or other accounts.

In accordance with Georgia law, "The Georgia Security and Immigration Compliance Act," I am required to display the following in any and all languages that I may give immigration related advise:

'I AM NOT AN ATTORNEY LICENSED TO PRACTICE LAW AND MAY NOT GIVE LEGAL ADVICE OR ACCEPT FEES FOR LEGAL ADVICE.'

The difference is, that's a marriage, this is an engagement.

Sending payments - ESPECIALLY "monthly" payments (as the OP inquired about) - could come across to someone as a "payment for goods received". ie: a mail-order bride.

I think that's what Shon is getting at.

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.

Well what little money I sent my fiance before we got married was nothing compared to the $7,000.00 diamond wedding set she got--so I think support, money and gifts it really depends on what the intent not so much the act itself.

The wedding gifts, wedding rings are all based on antisipating on marriage.

it is diffrent when your talking " monthy support".

Honestly, I think you're misrepresenting the facts. Why not ask any of the VJ members here who went through the interview process in Manila? Not only that...how has this come to be about my circumstances? Do you even KNOW my circumstances? Jinky has a doctorate in dentistry and runs her own clinic. I have sent her money but that doesn't make our relationship fraudulent in any way and for you to suggest that it will in the eyes of the CO is outrageous! But keep up with the stereotypes - it shows your own personal prejudice.

I would say that Kick as s dinosaur comes from France or maybe Quebec Canada--the Beret and all gives it away. But since dinosaur bones were first discovered in Paris during construction I betcha its a Frogeater--but that would kind of make the Dinosaur a bit of a cannibal wouldn't?

Actually, I think that's a tuft of hair and not a beret. ;)

If she calls you her Dragon, then shouldn't you call her the Damsel in Distress?

In my opinion this is a country specific question and fact specific. People that have never been to the Philippines cannot concieve the the poverty that exists in many areas of the country.

When I meet my wife she and her family were living in a two room shack with a dirt floor, no plumbing and a canvas roof that would keep the rain out for about five minutes. They slept on the floor with the rats spiders and the snakes. Her mother and father are about 40 and cannot get a job because they are considered to old. She and her brothers were working in a sweat shop 12 hours a day6 days a week and clearing 700 peso ( a little more than 2 dollars a day). She was malnourished and still suffers from the effects of that.

Did I send her money? YOUR DAMMED RIGHT I DID!!!!

In the last year and a half I spent about 4 months there trying to live day to day in thiose conditions. I absolutly hated it but her family was closer and stronger than most I see here. My family had the same attitude as most on this board calling her a gold digger...ect...

I told my family the same thing I tell anyone who makes those judgments without knowing the facts of the situation... but since I dont want to offend, I'll keep those specific comments to myself. Ill only say walk in someones elses shoes before you are so quick to judge.
