I am not sure what the OP intentions were nor do I want to judge her. But somethings have been posted here about her english and the words she used. This reminded me of something. If she is living in the phillapines then enlish is her second language. If she is anything like my fiance who also speals english fluently then the problem with her post could be the words she picked.

Quite often my fiance and I used to fight because of things he would say to me. What we both later realized was that in his thought process he thinks of something he wants to say in arabic and then translates in into english. The problem is when you translate it, you lose alot in the translation and what you say could end up meaning something else. This could be how she came up with the word "responsibility", maybe in Tagalan, its another word, and for lack of a better word she used that one?

Well said. Maybe some of the cats will retract their claws after taking this into consideration.

Get real. I see she can already spell 'support' so she probably knows what it means.

I wonder if she can also spell 'half'.

Okay... Let me respond to the OPs questions.

ok to ask for monthly support from your fiance or just wait for him to send voluntarily?

You can ask. You should be able to ask anything. As for whether you should ask, that's different. It would certainly mean more if it came voluntarily.

or just wait for him to realize it's a responsibility or is it a responsibility really for a fiance to give monthly support?

How is it his responsibility?!! You're engaged, not married. If he wants to help you out, that's up to him. Would you not be able to take care of yourself without his support? If not, why? Is this why you're looking for a free ticket to the US? Is he just your current meal ticket?

I don't care if she DOES need it or not. That isn't the issue. The issue was that the initial post made it sound as if it were expected, common, and a requirement, really. How could someone NOT think that it was all about the money when she's already asking how she should go about it?

That was my point about the cultural norm in the Philippines. This sence of entitlement after engagement is not the norm.

Aye, I know that. (My best friend and previous roommate for 8 years is Filipino) Was commenting on the tone of her post. I have no idea where she got the idea that it's the USC's duty to send her "MONTHLY" cheques now. Is it a job? Is he paying for a service? Rent? I mean, really...... #######?

hi everyone, just want to ask if it's ok to ask for monthly support from your fiance or just wait for him to send voluntarily? or just wait for him to realize it's a responsibility or is it a responsibility really for a fiance to give monthly support? - aix

Oooh yes, it's definitely his responsibility and you shouldn't even have to ask, because

as you know, Americans have SO much money they don't know what to do with it.

They never have to work because everything is handed to them on a silver platter,

and the streets are paved with gold.

LOL

and money falls from the sky !!!!!!!!!!!

As a matter of fact I am going outside now and gett me enough money from the money tree.

to get me a Big Mac. does anyone want a Big Mac? I am heading out now.:P

yeap..he needs to send you 20% what he makes right now...

i think that is the same as alimony in some states

Well i hope my husband dont get wind of this and sue me for back fiance support :P

I can see that on Judge Judy.

" judge Judy she owes me back fiance support"

I am not sure what the OP intentions were nor do I want to judge her. But somethings have been posted here about her english and the words she used. This reminded me of something. Excellent point.

Jen

true she could have said

" I demand money" " I am obligated " " I better get the dayum check in mail " " to hell with a few bucks - give me 1/2". or she could have got real cleaver and said " I am sueing you for back fiance support"

GIVE ME A BREAK!
