I have just got back from having my Biometrics done in San Marcos. They did them for both the work permit and the green card. I was just wondering whether the FBI name check gets done for the work permit too? And also, how long do you think it will take now to get the work permit through?

FBI name/fingerprint check is only for the I-485. Hopefully you will see your approval and the actual EAD card soon.

Since you got the biometrics taken so long into the the process (3 months), then I suspec your EAD is already approved and just the biometrics were missing. If this is the case, you'll receive the card in a week.

09-02-2005 Applications for AOS, EAD, and AP received by MSC

10-21-2005 AOS fingerprint notice for 12-08-2005

11-07-2005 AP approved

12-05-2005 Infopass appt at San Jose office for interim EAD -- Refused, because it is already approved by MSC on 11-07-2005

12-07-2005 Attempt at interim EAD at San Francisco office -- no go. Back to San Jose, where CSO (chief station officer) tells they will contact MSC via email to request permission to issue interim EAD

12-08-2005 Biometrics for AOS and EAD. Having no EAD appt letter was no problem (used EAD NOA)

12-15-2005 EAD arrived in the mail

12-24-2005 Received interview letter; interview scheduled 03-01-2006

01-28-2006 Received replacement SSN card in married name (5 wks since application)

03-01-2006 AOS interview -- approved; received stamp in the passport

03-13-2006 Green card arrived in the mail

hi,

i can't tell you the answer, but i can tell you that my husband got his biometrics taken the day before you in san marcos (15 feb). i asked the woman who worked there and she said that "aos for k1s are being processed very quickly in san diego, within 6 months" she also said that the ead should arrive within "a few weeks." i hope she's right for both of us! keep me posted on how your process is going. i'm glad to have someone else in san diego who is at the same stage as us!

My wife and I are going to York, PA tomorrow to have her biometrics done for her EAD. I was searching for info on the biometrics and came across this thread. Which is more common:

1) a single biometrics appointment. for both EAD and AOS or

2) two separate biometrics appointments for the EAD and AOS?

Our I-485 and I-765 was received by USCIS on November 14, 2005 so we have actually passed 90 days and based on others' experiences it is taking a while so I am hoping we will have both done tomorrow.

Thanks for your help.

Dean got his EAD just over 2 weeks after he had his biometrics done. It was very quick.

Good luck!

Thanks for your help jaaaaamas. Also, congrats on the green card. I noticed we have the same wedding date, but I was a little slower getting the AOS sent in.

Here is our experience with the York, PA ASC. We arrived at 8:45am and went in a little early for our 9am appointment. The gentleman in the waiting room was very nice and asked us for our NOA appointment letter and my wife's passport. We gave them to him and he gave us a form to complete. We completed the form and returned it to him and he wrote down some information on it. I noticed that he wrote 485 and 765 on the form so I assume they took the pictures for both the AOS and EAD. We then waited about 20 minutes and my wife was called. I then waited for her for about 30 minutes and when she came back she was finished. We entered at 8:45am and left at about 10:15am. It was a good experience overall and didn't take too long.
