Interesting I didnt see you as one of those people that would try to water down the bible. Are you trying to say that according the bible it isn't a sin? As far as the sarcasm in your response, you can do much better, I have seen it before.

I have no interest in interpreting the bible at all, it has no relevance to me or my life. However, I can quite clearly see that there are people who call themselves christians who have a completely different interpretation of the bible than you do but yet you seem to think your interpretation is the only one that is valid. I find that fascinating and rather funny.

There are a lot of things that are written in the Bible, where if you took them literally, you'd find yourself in a real predicament in keeping true to them.

Which is one of the many reasons I believe that the bible was the work of man not god.

Then why follow it literally? When Jesus said he was the bread of life, did he mean literally? There is another way to interpret the Bible and that is with discernment. By understanding that the men who wrote the Bible were human and not perfect, even though they were inspired by God. So when the Bible says that a woman is unclean when she is menstruating and must stay outside of the home and go through a cleansing process before being allowed to enter the home, you don't have to take it literally. Slavery is not condemned in the Bible, yet we have been enlightened in modern times that every man/woman should be free. Taking every word of the Bible literally as an edict from God is dangerous, IMO. Spiritual truth is never confined to human language.

Well then maybe you should have interest in the bible if your going to be so quick to judge me. Lets not make this difficult, it clearly states in the bible that its a sin. If people want to water it down so be it, I have no problem with it whatsoever but to act like the bible doesn't clearly state that is rather stupid.

Its been fun, got to go

Got to go but look foward to continuing this debate.

I Corinthians 6:9-10: " 9 Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders 10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God."

I am not the one who is doing any judging. You are owning the interpretation of the bible. I find that...astonishing.

You can repent all you want, but if you stay gay, in the eyes of fundamentalists, you're still going to hell.

Well... if heaven is full of fundamentalists, I don't want to go there....

Whoah...I'm not sure where you got that quote, but that isn't 1 Corinthians 6:9-10.

Here's the actual passage:

It is written in the law of Moses, "You shall not muzzle an ox while it is treading out the grain." Is God concerned about oxen, or is he not really speaking for our sake? It was written for our sake, because the plowman should plow in hope, and the thresher in hope of receiving a share. 1 Corinthians 6:9-10.

Also,is a homosexual who chooses to be celibate, still a homosexual??

Yes. Demanding celibacy or sex with someone you are not attracted to is a life time of cruel and unusual punishment that one has done nothing to deserve simply by being born attracted to the same sex. Shame on anyone who wishes that upon another human being.

Being from a farming background, I can see the plowman plowing in hope but the thresher is just a hired hand. The thresher gets his coin but hardly could expect a share...

Hummmm.... I did not demand celibacy of anyone. I simply suggested that a homosexual who choose not to do the act that would define him, or her, as a homosexual, might not then be classified as a homosexual....

Here's the actual passage:

Actually, Simpson is right..

1 Corinthians 6:9-10 (New International Version)

9Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders 10nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.

However, the term "homosexual offenders" is translated from the greek word malakos (or malakai)which does NOTmean homosexuality literally. Malakai literally means "soft" and it is associated with weak morals. Wiki

That is why I have a problem with people quoting the bible willy nilly. It is important to understand that the bible has been translated numerous times, and it is also important to understand the history and the context of the whole passage before throwing out bible verses.

maybe it will be some nice fuel for the fundamentalists to be more 'gay friendly' in the future.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
