When we go to the market, my wife is like a kid in the candy store.

Yvonne was like that when we went back to Wegmans for the first time after she POE'd, after not having been in over 18 months. It was pretty funny to watch.

The backyard metal swing sets that were never properly stuck in the ground... so with each swing the whole thing would come out and feel like it could topple over. laughing.gif

And the swings had chains on them! SO many times I ripped my hands to shreds on those things.

Yea my husband and I are trying to get a dodge ball team together, we need 9 people... we have 4 so far... any takers? tongue.gif

Nothing like whipping balls at people for a good time.

I love dodge ball! But it's a bit too far to drive. lol. Those things hurt!! lol

My friend had a tire swing on a tree in her backyard but you could only go front and back, if you went side to side or if you're swing started to get wonky you'd plow into the size of a huge maple tree.

I think our childhoods defined extreme sports.

Our church plays a variation on dodgeball called (hilariously enough) Murderball.

You line up the kids in two teams about 2ft. from the wall. Each kid is assigned a number. When you call out a number (or, as the game progresses, two, three, four, or all the numbers), the kids whose numbers were called run for the ball in the middle of the court. The objective is for the kid who gets the ball to hit the opposing team's wall with the ball while the kid who didn't get the ball chases/tackles/trips/etc the one with the ball.. They can throw it, kick it, run up and touch the ball to the wall, bounce it off another player, etc. The rest of the team (who isn't allowed to move off their line 2ft. from the wall) is supposed to stop the player or the ball by any means available.

This often results in some pretty beat up kids...and these are NICE kids.

Our dodgeball games are just as bad, we've got a couple high school girls who can leave welts with those things!

Then again, this kinda stuff probably wouldn't fly in the big city...living in the country seems to breed "tougher" kids and parents, at least as far as the babying kids thing goes.

clackers!! We all had those. My friend's Mom made them. In retrospect, I wonder how our parents put up with them - so damn noisy.

..and dangerous! Those things were weapons. Going way, way back but I recall they banned us from bringing them to school.

You know something gets big when it get banned from school. I remember the Pog craze, everyone would get in fights over them and steal them out of peoples lockers, so they banned them.

My favorite was the YoYo craze that happened when I was in the 6th or 7th grade. They got banned after everyone figured out they could be used as a weapon... A friend of mine got her tooth chipped when she was standing too close at someones "around the world" attempt

For the record, I'm still awesome at YoYo :hehe:

Yes! We also weren't allowed to stick our tongues on frost free fences! :hehe: But lemme tell ya.... those suckers were definitely frosty when in contact with a wet tongue. :dead:

I don't know what a footsie is... :(

Right now all the rage are these STUPID silly bandz. Omg! 4.99 for a bag of these rubber bands that are shaped like various things and you wear them like a bracelet. They drive me bonkers.... I must have vacuumed up like 10 already.
