I believe that if all the families of the fiance's and the wives with our benificiaries that we are filing for whom have been denied and even the ones that have not and for the ones who come after us......We Must make a stand and PROTEST IN FRONT OF THE AMERICAN EMBASSY IN MOROCCO YES CASSABLANCA....Why cos we all have just had about enough of this denying all the time no good reasons yet most of us are waiting anywhere from 1 to 5 years to be as a real FAMILY AS WE SHOULD BE....BUT BECAUSE OF THE INTERVIEWERS AND HOW THERE DAY IS OR WHAT THEY THINK OR HOW THEY FEEL THAT DAY TO MAKE A HASTY DECISION TO BE DENIED WHEN WE ARE WAITING SO LONG FOR OUR ANSWERS.... I KNOW THAT IF WE WERE TO GET TOGETHER AND MAKE A CHANGE AND SHOW THEM THAT WE ARE AS ONE COS WE ARE ALL FIGHTING FOR THE SAME CAUSE THEN THEY WOULD HAVE TO CHANGE THE WAY THEY MAKE THERE DECISIONS ABOUT US AND WHO IS IN LOVE OR NOT....PERSONNALLY IT IS A BIG MONEY MAKER TOOOOO IF YOU THINK ABOUT IT EVERYTIME WE FILE WE HAVE TO PUT OUT JUST FOR THE K-1 455.00 FOR K-3 OR CR1 IS 355.00 PLUS THE WEDDING AND THE COST OF FLIGHTS TO GO TO MOROCCO AND THEN THE SECOND OR THIRD COST OF THE ADJUSTMENT OF STATUS IT IS NOT RIGHT OR FAIR SO TO PUT A STOP TO THIS CRAZYNESS LIKE I SAID IS TO DO WHAT REAL AMERICANS WOULD DO IN OUR OWN COUNTRY AND BEING THE AMERICANS ARE THE ONES THAT MAKE THESE DECISIONS FOR US AND OUR LOVED ONES I BELIEVE WE NEED TO PUT THEM OUT OF BUISSNESS AND MAKE OUR LOVED ONES COME HOME TO US,,,,,,,INSHAALLAH

While I absolutely feel your pain, I have learned through my own process, and quite a few years of watching other couples go through this consulate that the US consulate in Morocco is a high fraud post. Unfortunately, returning a petition is one of the tools consular officers use to combat this issue. Yes it really hurts when this happens to you, it seems very unfair...believe me I know from personal experience, 5 years ago this very issue touched my own personal life. I wanted to take it all the way to the top, what ever it took to be heard.

5 years ago, you wouldn't catch me giving consular officers at this post any benefit of doubt. A lot of time has passed, I am now more educated in the issues this consulate faces, and the process of returned petitions. I see consular officers now very differently than I did back then. They see fraud first hand day in and day out, much more than we have access to here on VJ. They really do not have a disciplined process to combat the issue from their end.

Not only does the issue of fraud exist, but other issues exist that aren't being addressed with the processes/guidelines consular officers follow and do not follow, differences between the department of state, and the department of homeland security and how returned petitions are not only treated, processed, but managed from beginning to end, how the petitioners feel as though they are pawns in a game between the 2 organizations. There needs to be a better process around returned petitions, more accountability for those at DOS who actually do it, and the reasons why they do it as well as accountability for reviewing returned petitions in a timely manner by DHS.

Consular officers could also use better training geared specifically towards fraud they face on a daily basis. Even though the burden of proof is upon the beneficiary to demonstrate they are in fact eligible to receive a visa...this includes proving they aren't seeking to immigrate under false pretences, the consulate should to look at their interview process and consider making changes which 'could' allow them to understand a case better before making a decision on whether to issue or refuse a visa.

I don't believe that picketing the consulate in protest is a viable solution.

DISCLAIMER: I am not an attorney, all information provided is from years of research and personal experiences of those affected by returned visa petitions/applications. If this is happening to you, my personal advice is to research the facts, hire a good immigration lawyer who can demonstrate they specialize in returned/denied visa petitions and applications.

I really agree with Kiyah on the issue of the C.O.'s in Morocco. Imagine what they see day in and day out - not only at the consulate, but by living there in Morocco. I imagine they see their share of cyber cafe activity by Moroccans looking to leave Morocco for better opportunities - by any means necessary, and other things that color their opinions about their job duties. It would be a lot of responsibility to make decisions like they do every day. I think sometimes they probably make good decisions and sometimes they probably make bad ones.

That being said, it's frustrating to have such important decisions about your life in other people's hands.

I also agree that protesting in Morocco seems dangerous, and probably very useless.

Being frustrated and wanting to speak about about injustice is normal and healthy, imho. But, doing it wisely and safely should be paramount in the process!

And, isn't that what's happened in the thread - feedback and discussion? What am I mising?

It's frustrating and often times seems and feels and probably is, in some cases, really unfair. Nobody's disagreeing with

that, as far as I can tell.

I'm not aware of the whole regional issue playing a part in whether someone's visa is denied or not. How was that determined?

Antecdotal information? Or some other way?

If I read correctly, the true purpose of this thread was to organize a protest outside the Moroccan consulate in Casablanca... I didn't read anything about discussion..

Incidentally, I have read on here before something about someone being denied for what city they were from in Morocco (or the subject of their locality being mentioned, I'm not 100%). I believe it was speculated that because some cities in Morocco have a higher concentration of men in cyber cafés, that men from those areas are more intensely scrutinized...

You sound like I did about 3 1/2 years ago. :bonk:

But like Kiyah I have learned so much more about the system. It really doesn't do any good to try and organize a protest because the consulates are pretty much untouchable. The system doesn't work, I am well aware of that, but the bottom line is that you are going to have to play the game their way. Instead of looking for ways to correct the system, which would take years even if you and hundreds of protesters had a loud enough voice, instead use this determination to prove your case. You can win, it just takes time. And once he is here the anger will leave, but it will be a long time before you ever want to deal with the USCIS/DOS ever again.

If by chance, after you finish the entire process, you have the same determination and drive to organize a protest here on US ground then by all means do it. But get him here first.

'Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming 'WOO HOO, What a Ride'
