My husband is a Conditional Permanent Resident. His green card expires in July 2011. Today he realized he lost his wallet, which had his green card in it. I've been browsing desperately for info...I know we will have to file the I-90 to get a replacement green card. I noticed that there is a 3.5 month processing time.

1. Can we pay extra to have this expedited?

2. His driver license expires in May. Does anyone know if Tennessee will accept the Welcome Letter as proof of status in place of the green card?

I'm praying he finds his wallet at work...he is on 3rd shift and is asking around...so far nobody has found it. His boss comes in during the morning...please keep your fingers crossed she finds it! Not only does it have his ID cards, but he also had his wedding ring in it. He puts it in there while he's at work to keep from damaging it. That's the part I hate the most. Breaks my heart that he's lost it.

Thanks in advance!

Regan

Sorry to hear this, it always sucks to lose your wallet, and when you have something as important as a green card, it gets even worse. I got my driver's licence with the EAD, because I didn't have me green card yet, and it has a temporary visitor stamp on it. If he still has his he can use it...at least he will have it while he gets his replacement GC. But then again, it was probably in his wallet too... I hope he finds it, good luck guys.

I dont' think there is expedite processing for I-90 but he is in good standing if he has a copy of his green card. Then when he gets the NOA1 that's another proof he is in status. Alternately, you can make and Infopass once you have the NOA1 to get the I-551 stamp in the passport to show to DMV he has PR status.

MANY MANY Thanks for the responses! Fortunately, we found his wallet after I spent most of the night searching throughout the house and even out in the yard in the dark with a flashlight. I'm sure this will be one of those things we can look back and laugh at in our elder years.

Thanks again!
