Every time I hear another immigrant complaining about America I wanna puke too.

So complaining about GM is complaining about America?

No. The Bradys had Plymouth Satellite wagons. There were two different model years for the whole run from 1969-1974.

This is a 1967 Olds Vista Cruiser with the Vista Roof (can you dig it?). GM A-body intermediate station wagon. Ours is gold and the mags in the picture are aftermarket, we have the wheel disc hubcaps with the rocket symbol in the middle.

I think the Vista Cruiser was known in "That 70's Show"

The Vista Cruiser was a legend long before that crappy show went on the air. That's why the writers picked a 1969 or 1970 model for the show. When I think of all the times people (of all ages) came up to admire the car and that tinted roof...

Move to Japan.

You're already sending your money over there when you buy a Japanese car. The Emperor appreciates your patronage.

A COPO 427 1969 Chevelle? They were rare then and now, forget it. Get a clone, drop in the new Corvette engine (or even the 5.3l, you don't need to blow $23,000) and have a ball. I never really liked the egg-crate grill Chevelles from '70+, but I did like those two words on the hood, COWL INDUCTION. 454s were great but the new engines, eventhough they are small blocks, will kill them.

I about had a stroke when I saw the price of a 427 chevelle SS. It was in horrible condition and the guy still wanted almost $40k for it. I was going to get just a regular RS 69 chevelle and just go to YearOne and get one of those RS to SS conversion kits. It's really just a matter of switching a couple dozen emblems on the outside and some interior modifications. I would like to get a period engine, but a 427 or 454 crate motor will suffice. In a time of oil prices soaring, i'm going for the worst gas mileage of ALL TIME!!!!!

Pimpmobile I had a 472 and Pimpmobile II had a 460, so I know all about big block mileage.

I'm a bit confused, are you talking about a Camaro (which had RS and SS models) or a Chevelle (which had only the SS model)? There are a few ZL-1 replica motors around if you really want to spend $23,000 for an all-aluminum 427 for your 1969 Camaro. I'd just get a 572 if I was that gung-ho about getting lousy mileage. Even 1st generation Camaros with the L6 are selling for ridiculous money, Chevelles are cheaper but are still going up in price. Even B-bodies (Impala SS and clones) are starting to get pricey. Forget about Corvettes. Novas aren't very cheap, especially the SS models with the 396.

No, not getting another camaro, gonna get a Chevelle. I was just saying RS to delinieate from the SS, which by all metrics, is the same except for the engine and a few details on the interior and exterior. You can get a kit that will turn it into an SS from a regular plain jane chevelle. The kit is about $500, but the difference in price between a plain jane chevelle and an SS is much more than that. I have a bunch of parts off my old car (had a 427) that are in pristene condition. So I could buy a crate 427 and slap on the headers, custom intake/exhaust manifold, racing pistons and be ready to go. I don't know how street legal it would be though

In California? I think that vehicles produced before 1976 are exempt. I figured you wuz up on your Chevelles. Was your 427 open or closed chambered heads, oval or rectangulart ports? Since 427s and 454s and most BBCs of their ilk can interchange parts, you could easily drop in a 4.25" crank and get 482 cubic inches.

BTW, 12.5 to 1 compression should work great with 87 octane unleaded.

It appears they have changed that since I last owned a muscle car, It used to be pre 1964. But, edelbrock and morosso after market products are still illegal. The big thing now that they get you on is expanded capacity exhaust. They will pull people over and measure the size of their exhaust pipes and if it is a milimeter over the allowable size, they can cite you. An even bigger problem now with these fix it tickets is now they can confiscate your car if you get too many. Used to be, you get pulled over and cited, you go home, pull the engine, put teh stock one back in, take it to the highway patrol for inspection, then go back home and put the other engine back in. Now, if you get caught doing that more than a couple times, they will simply take your car as a habitual offender.

As to the fuel, there is a performance shop near me that sells race fuel. 101 octane baby!! w0000t..... but at $14 per gallon, thats a bit of a luxury. They do sell this addative that makes 91 octane gas into roughly 95 and its not prohibitively expensive.

How much is nitro going for these days? :P The BAR folks had a sliding year gimmick until the 1975 model year (cars 30 years or older being exempt). I guess having a 14-71 GMC blower with an Enderle bugcatcher sticking out of your hood is out of the question.

Can't handle the truth about GM huh? That's ok. Some people are just set in their ways....

Actually I'm already over in the US. In Michigan, where everytime I go by the GM building I wanna puke.

Where do you think that you are, at a Phillies game.

You might have to use octane booster and mix your own. Or find a station that sells some high octane stuff, there are a few sprinkled around.

Rob has access to one that sells racing fuel at $14 a gallon. The only engines that won't detonate are Hemis w/o pop-up pistons (not the new ones, the ones from the 1960s and early 70s) and Oldsmobiles with flat-top pistons. All the engines with wedge-shaped combustion chambers are going to have problems. The 472 had 10.5 to 1 compression and pimpmobile I (1968 Cadillac Coupe de Ville, 375hp/525lb-ft of torque) wouldn't go past 60 since the engine would start detonating on pump gas.
