Since, I am the applicant, and my Wife is the petioner, should she change her name before or after applying for AOS?

Does it matter?

does not matter... previous name is listed on the form as such

I changed my name before AOS, and filled out all of the I864 and such with the new name.

Changing the petitioner's name is EEEEEEEEEEEEASY. Just bring the Marriage certificate (certified original) and the other required Identity documents and get it changed at the SSA office. They even give you a letter saying it's officially been changed, which you can take to the DMV and get a new license etc.

K-1:

January 28, 2009: NOA1

June 4, 2009: Interview - APPROVED!!!

October 11, 2009: Wedding

AOS:

December 23, 2009: NOA1!

January 22, 2010: Bogus RFE corrected through congressional inquiry "EAD waiting on biometrics only" Read about it here.

March 15, 2010: AOS interview - RFE for I-693 vaccination supplement - CS signed part 6!

March 27, 2010: Green Card recieved

ROC:

March 1, 2012: Mailed ROC package

March 7, 2012: Tracking says "notice left"...after a phone call to post office.
