What a great forum!

Me and my FI are currently planning to send our I 129F within the next week or two; we've been engaged since August last year ( I visited him in the US and he proposed!) but really just started considering a K1 visa-- prior to this, we thought we'd get married on my tourist visa but realized that it might be a recipe for disaster. It's been more than 4 years since we met and got together-- so I really do hope that this doesn't take long. We've been apart too long!

Just a couple questions:

1. I've been looking at timelines (they're so very helpful!)and I was wondering what "Touched" means?

2. Haven't really looked through a lot of posts, but what's the earliest that I could go to the US under K1? I've been wanting a February wedding. :) I always fancied myself to be a February bride!

3. What are the odds of me getting denied a Visa, and if I do, what will happen to my tourist visa?

Thanks!

Touched simply means the petition or application was "touched" It was handled by someone - typically it will get scanned and moved to another desk. It does not hold a lot of value as there is no way of knowing what each touch is doing, but at least you know it has been "touched"

For a K-1 visa you are typically looking at a minimum of 6 months from filing the I129F to interview. Possible it could be less - more likely longer.

As far as toursit visa - not sure. In some cases it may not have any affect on tourist visa, other cases it may. If they think you may have intent to immigrate and stay on tourist visa they would likey deny enrty, big factor is what country you are from and how strong your ties to the homeland are.

Getting married in the US on a tourist visa would be highly unadvisable unless you returned to the home country and applied for CR-1. Sine you already mentioned "intent" here, if you did it and tried to AOS, you would be commiting visa fraud, you don't want to go there!
