How about we put together a list of countries or locations that permanent residents can travel to without obtaining a visa?

I'll start with what I know:

  1. Bahamas
  2. Canada
  3. Jamaica
  4. Mexico
  5. Puerto Rico

I do apologize if this is not the best subforum to host such thread

It's a good idea except...........sometimes it depends on the country of origin for the LPR since they are still traveling on that passport. Although I will agree with his green card it is easier to obtain a visa for the countries that require it.

Tennesse, Alabama and George Georgia require a visa for anyone above the Mason Dixon line.

And a blood test!

Correct. Delta's website has a tool for determining travel requirements. Just select your citizenship and PR status. It can vary. For instance, as a USC, I need a visa to go to Brazil. As would Rin as an LPR if she was a citizen of other countries that require a visa, except her Thai citizenship allows her to travel to Brazil without a visa.

Since it looks like your SO is Ukrainian - Turkey would be my first choice, without knowing anything about your preferences/ability to travel. The Dominican Republic is a big favorite too. We did go to Turkey last year, and had a blast.

With that logic then

1. Alabama

2. Arizona

3. California

I think you start picking up some bureaucratic features from the people you have to deal with.

Do you really not see a difference in terms of travelling to PR or to a contingent state?

no difference because it is a US Territory... It is considered a US domestic flight when departing and going non-stop from the "mainland", it the same as if you were going to Hawaii or Alaska

Included in this grouping of US territories is PR, USVI and Guam, to name a few

YMMV
