Need help!!

I worked in japan 4x and my contract last for 6 months...I read that in K visa they need to get a police clearance once they work outside the country for 6 months and need a police clearance for non K visa if they lived in other country for more that 1 year...my question is we are in CR1 visa do i still need to get a police clearance??i want to know because getting a police clearance in Japan Embassy takes a 1-3 months so i want to make sure that i have my requirement before the interview...

whether you're CR1/IR1 or k1 if you stay or work outside the country for 6 months or more you have to get a police clearance goodluck

Not true...according to the IV instructions for CR-1 visa it says this:

8. OTHER COUNTRY POLICE CERTIFICATES. Applicants aged 16 years and older must also present police certificates from other countries where they have lived for one (1) year or more after reaching the age of 16. As with NBI clearances, foreign police certificates should be obtained in any maiden names, aliases or nicknames used while in the country in question, including different spellings you have used of those names. Country-specific information on how to secure police certificates is available on the State Department’s web site at http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/reciprocity/reciprocity_3272.html.

K-1 visas are required for 6 month as per the guide off the US Embassy Site Manila:

g. OTHER COUNTRY POLICE CERTIFICATES. Applicants aged 16 years and older must also present police certificates from other countries where they have lived for six (6) months or more after reaching the age of 16. As with NBI clearances, foreign police certificates should be obtained in any maiden names, aliases or nicknames used while in the country in question, including different spellings you have used of those names. So for the spouse visa, you only need to get a police clearance for anyplace you have been for 1 year or longer.

I dont think they cost anything from japan...i would go apply for it just in case they ask, but according to the instructions, you dont need them.

Scott and Mhay is correct. Go apply for the police clearance just in case they ask. It is better to be safe than AR. Hehehe.
