I just passed the 2-year grean card interview, but the officer didn't give me an approval letter. She said I passed the interview, but my case wasn't approved, because FBI hadn't finished my name check. She said it would take a few weeks for them to finish the name check, and then I could receive the green card. I am very worried. I am clean, never had any crime or something. Have you ever heard anything like this? I hope I don't have to leave the country. By the way, the officer wasn't very nice.

Thats a good sign. The FBI name check takes a few weeks or so, but your greencard should be in the mail once thats completed.

But otherwise, congrats!

Yes - if they didn't finish the checks, they will not approve you.

Follow up with them in two weeks.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

WARNING: Phrases in this post may sound meaner than they were intended to be. Read the Adjudicator's Field Manual from USCIS

I have no idea. How can you be so sure about that?

I really never heard anything like this.

I did some reading on the internet. Some people had the same situation and they waited several month or over a year.

It sucks.

Good luck! Just wait two more weeks for green card and you will get it in the mail.

She said my name check was started on Jan 13. That was long time ago. She said FBI had some clitch on my name check and would take longer time to complete it. They really suck!

Yes, I have heard of this.

IMO, it is NORMAL. If you had signed up for electronic notifications (email, sms, etc) then sooner or later you'll receive more info when the AOS is approved, and when there is 'card production ordered'.

Hang in there !

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Thank you! I did sign up for email and sms notice. I got their notices on EAD and AP before. Hope to get it soon. The process to immigrate to this country is soooo long...... They also charge so much for everything! It is a robbery.
