Hello! Just started immmigration process!

Hello! My name is Sarah Lynn. :) One of my blogging friends Jacki told me about this forum a few years ago. I've been looking around and there is definitely a lot of useful information here. :)

My husband & I were married in the Philippines December 2009. (I am American, he is Filipino.) While we were engaged I looked up immigration lawyers and we are currently working with one. Our I-130 was received by USCIS back in Feb so now we are waiting to hear from the NVC in May or July so we can prepare our I-864 and other supporting documentation. I was told my husband may be here by Christmas 2010.

Welcome!! Good luck with everything. I think for us that are not working with a lawyer we are averaging about 5 months total time from first submission to visa approval/issue. Keep on your lawyer to check up on the case especially when it goes to the NVC. Dont let them wait on NVC to do all the contacting because they are really slow to get the paperwork out. Many of us have been proactive and gotten through the NVC fairly quickly.

Removal of conditions Journey

16 March 2012 Sent I-751 package from Aviano AB, Italy.

29 March 2012 Received everything back...wrong fee. thought we didn't have to pay biometrics since we were sending fingerprint cards and passport photos.

30 March 2012 Sent everything out again from Aviano AB, Italy.

10 April 2012 Check cashed

17 April 2012 Received NOA1 dated 6 April.

06 Dec 2012 Received 10 yr green card. Letter said it was approved 28 November 2012.

Thanks for the advice, it seems like such a long wait until we hear from the NVC! So far the lawyer has been good at answering all my silly questions. We were contact for 2 years before I was even his client.

Thanks! And yes my husband has never been to the US, though his Mom was a school teacher and visited NY before and he has relatives in Virginia that I've met. So this would be his first Xmas if our immigration process goes smoothly! I've spent two Christmas' in the Philippines out of my 4 trips so far. :)

It's been 3 months we finally got back an approval receipt from the USCIS. And within 2 weeks our case was forwarded to the NVC. I just got word from our lawyer today the NVC received everything, we have to pay our fee and we were given a case number. Then we'll be preparing our I-864. :)

Welcome to VJ. I hope that you have a great journey..

2005---We met by friend/Church member that was living in Nigeria

2006---We begin to talk about getting married

2007---I was going to met him face to face, but hurt my back couldn't walk..

2009---Was able to see each for the first time.. I got my engagement ring (WOW).. :wow:

2010-01-22 mailed I129f

2010-01-26 got NOA1

2010-05-12 called to see why no NOA2, I was told that our case is not being processed yet!!!!! No notes in the computer

other then the mailing of the NOA1!!!!!!! :angry:

2010-05-18 called SERVICE CENTER again to see what's going on with our case.. NOT BEING PROCESSED YET I WAS TOLD AGAIN!!!

2010-06-16 Got notice that NOA2 was approved 141 days after NOA1. We got our approval on Ossy's Birthday.. Happy birthday honey, I love you!!!!

2010-06-21 got NOA2 in hand

2010-06-22 called NVC to see if papers was there, but was told that my DOB was not right in the system. Just mailed a letter along with a copy of my birth certificate asking to change my DOB.. Way to go VCS..

2010-06-22 NVC received the case

2010-06-23 Case sent to Embassy in Barbados

2010-06-28 Embassy received our case

2010-08-09 Interview Administrative Review

2010-11-15 Approved for Visa (I was on the mission to make sure the INTERVIEWER that we had never interviewed anyone else and I did it).. Know that you have right and don't let the interviewer cross the line..

2010-12-10 Visa and Passport in hand!!! Thank God!!!

2010-12-19 Ossy will enter the States!!

It's been quite awhile since I posted in this topic! Immigration has been moving along.

I got word the other day the NVC had forwarded our paperwork to Manila and my husbands interview is at the US embassy consulate in Manila on February 4th!!! So soon!!! :D

He has to get his medical clearance on Monday and our lawyer sent us a list of everything he needs to bring with him. So fingers crossed!!!!
