Ok, so Ive finally accepted that Im in AP..so I thought I would meander over to the AP forum. Some people have been in AP for over 2 YEARS??

Im fretting now. Can it really take that long? *Gulp*.

Invictus..

Out of the night that covers me,

Black as the Pit from pole to pole,

I thank whatever gods may be

For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance

I have not winced nor cried aloud.

Under the bludgeonings of chance

My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears

Looms but the Horror of the shade,

And yet the menace of the years

Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,

How charged with punishments the scroll.

I am the master of my fate:

I am the captain of my soul.

Wouldn't they give you notice that you were in AP if it was so?

I am so sorry for your stress. It really is just such a nightmare!

My heart goes out to you. We are waiting around too in limbo after I failed to

prove domicile....

I will take this one Coralie, if you don't mind!

AP stands for Administrative Processing!

The beneficiary has to undergo AP if the folks at the consulate feel that the paperwork is inaccurate/faulty. AP can be due to a lot of reasons.

To answer your question Coralie, it is "highly unlikely" for people from Canada to undergo AP for 2 years as Canada is not considered to be a high fraud territory. It is just a question of how the consulate folks look at your case.

It can, it can be two days, two weeks, two years.

For a little perspective, do note which country the beneficiary is from - there are many consulates that have a applications with a high fraud rate, you should take that in to consideration, also take note if there is any reason stated for the AP. Criminal convictions, suspicion about having a bonafide relationship (like they questioned both people and they had different answers). Or, they may be from a country where many names are the same - so might be involved in a long name check situation.

Anyway, I just mention this as, if you are going to go there, you need to have all the facts.

I went for my interview in MTL, it seems that most of the people in AP for years are those from the middle eastern countries. Still.. EEK!! I hope we arent stuck in that dark void for that long.. :wow: I "think" our AP is for document verification. The DOS wont tell me what kind of AP I find myself in... Just that its a "broad umbrella"----very helpful

And Slider... thank you for the responses :)

I'm guessing the AP thing may just be regarding being a PR in Canada, not a citizen. They just might have to clarify things.

I'm saying some Ohms for you Coralie. If it is doc verification from SA then I will definitely say some for you!! I tried to get my BC - 2 years via the High Commission here in Australia and a solicitor later, still nothing. The only thing that actually ensured I received a copy, was a trip to SA.

UGGG.. perhaps. My mom sponsored me to Canada 8 years ago when I graduated high school. Just when the time came for me to get my canadian citizenship, is when I met my hubby, so I never persued it. Perhaps me still being a PR after all these years has raised some kind of "red flag". They didnt mention it or even ask about it at my interview though.
