Conflicting and confusing Information

A couple of weeks ago we received a request for information form asking for a tax transcript and proof of termination of previous marriages. The letter explicitly said that we were NOT to mail these items in but bring them to the interview. Nothing was said about an interview date however. Checking the online system today it says the case is waiting on information and can't proceed without it. So, as usual when dealing with USCIS, we are very confused.

Has this happened to anybody else?

I think this is normal... the online system is not that reliable. Usually, most people receive the letter (I think it is yellow or blue) and it is informing applicants to bring certain items with them. I recommend you bring more than what they requested. Also, if my memory serves me correct, you will receive a separate appointment letter for your civics exam so it looks like you are on the right track.

You should not worry. Same thing happened to me. You will receive and interview letter pretty soon and it will ask you to bring bunch of stuff as well. Wait about 2 weeks, I got my interview date letter in about 2 weeks after the yellow letter.

Same thing happened to one of my boys. When I went online to see where the case was it said the same thing and I called the service center because we had been waiting awhile for the interview letter and we were not aware of any additional information that it said they were waiting for. After talking to the service center I received an email the next day apoligizing for their "error" and two days later we got the interview letter in the mail. Wouldn't hurt to call and see what they say, they were very helpful when I called.

Thanks to all who replied. We've been waiting since February for the follow up letter about the interview so maybe it is time to give them a call. Our AOS sat in limbo like this for about two years so it sounds like par for the course.
