Hey guys, here's what I prepared so far for our interview and also some items that we will add when I arrive in Kharkov. Let me know if there's anything I missed.

All those + copies are for my own peace of mind, so I have duplicates

Also, my I-134 is not notarized. I just don't have time for it anymore, plus it doesn't seem like Kiev requires it to be notarized

LIST OF DOCUMENTS

  • DS-156 x2 + 2 copies
  • DS-156K x1 + 1 copy
  • I-134 x1 + 1 copy
    • – Last 5 paystubs + copies of each
    • – 3 years of tax transcripts + copies of each
    • – 3 years of W-2's just copies
    • – 3 years of tax returns print out x1 each

  • Daria's Birth Certificate: Original + Copy + Translation
  • Passports (both)
  • Police certificate + Translation
  • Evidence of relationship
    • Emails (2-3 from each month)
    • Text message history (AT&T + GVoice SMS)
    • Photos
    • Boarding passes + museum tickets
    • Ring receipt

  • 2 photos (5cm x 5cm)
  • Letters of Intent To Marry x 2
  • Print out KIEV INTERVIEW invitation
  • KEV Checklist
  • Medical results
  • Pay fee at the Pro Credit Bank

Don't need these since you have the transcripts, double redundancy.

Copy of NOA2

You are right. I have it in the folder. Forgot to put it on the list because I stuck it in the folder way before I made the list...

I know about redundancy. But everyone kept b!tching and raving about bringing tax returns AND W-2s together with transcripts.... Seemed retarded to me.

Thanks for confirming my thoughts

Like most of us, or at least our SOs/wives, you are overpreparing. You are going to be fine Alex, and the interview will be a breeze. Relax.

I'm only doing 1 year of tax returns, 3 years of W2 and 6 pay stubs. Plus I wrangled a letter of employment from the government agency I work for. No small feat. Why would you need a copy of the NOA2? For AOS yes but not the Embassy interview. The rest of the list is the same as yours.

And yes, we are over prepared.

I wish you luck man. One thing i would do is go over your file with her. Ask her questions that are clearly in your file. This really helps. It gives her a feel of what could be asked in the meeting. I can say this becuase this is my second K-1 visa. She is going to have shock upon coming here. I can only say from myself one of the biggest mistakes i made in my first K-1 was having gather Russian friends for support here. In my first K-1 that lasted ten years she had not one USA friend. The biggest step for any lady is driving. I have the Drivers manual written in Russian if you need it I can e-mail it to you.

I am now living in Jacksonville Florida working at The Navy nuke base as a computer engineer. Anna has a degree in Psychology. I was living in Athens Georgia and she would have gone to University of Georgia here. I have already had her degree translated and it stands up here. I have been working to find a college in Jacksonville area and I have. Now Anna will have to pass TOELF and GRE exam. She speaks fluently in english so the toelf will not be a problem but the GRE might be another story with Anna being weak in Algebra.

I, really do not see Anna working a job here in USA until she finishes her masters. The masters in her field has become the new BA and she will need it to have a good job.

Now, over the time Anna and i have been together i have been preparing her for coming here. Discussing bank accounts the day to day life. After that first week of spending time with her we all have to return to the day to day grind of things. At that point that is where it becomes real life.

I took Anna two of Dave Ramseys books and a Zodiac book and you can guess which she read first and she has just begun the Ramsey books. She some thinking. It will be nice to hear what happens with your meeting in Kiev. All the best to you!!

She knows what's in the file. There's no need to do the questions thing anymore, we did it a while back, she knows everything there is to know about me and all that jazz.

I kinda doubt she'll have a shock after the arrival. She's been all over Europe. But.... yeah, you are right, she might be shocked by the lack of public transportation and other things :D

As far as friends go - we'll cross that bridge when we get there. I fail to see the point there.

For the driver's manual - thank you, but I'll gracefully pass on the offer. State manuals are different everywhere. Plus, she needs to learn those in English off the bat. She'll just need the permit part, since she knows how to drive already and has a license.

She is going to have shock upon coming here.

Why would this be so? If it is because you have not told her everything, shown her everything, described everything, talked about everything, then bad bad on you.

After so many Skype tours around the house and yard and photos upon photos and detailed conversations about every aspect of life including toothpaste, she knew where everything was she set foot in the door and was immediately comfortable.

Again, bad on you if she is so shocked about being and living here.

CAse and point but, Sure Skype tours are great but, The way we live and the pace. Banking all is very different. Friends? Hmmmmmmm, you will see. I maybe wrong but from my past experience these ladies compare notes. It is good in some cases and not in others. Sure, I have prepared as much as I can but she will have to do some on her own. My point is "Natasha" in ten years did not have One friend here in USA (all Russian Ladies were her friends) She failed to embrace the culture here and never moved away from the Ukraine really at the end of day. In coming here it is a new way of life. Sure, I have been all over the world and Europe and USA are like hot and cold in there difference. Sure, everybody is different and reacts different.

In all i told Anna "I am marrying a Human being and lady that just happens to be from the Ukraine". Of course, we all want their best for our loved ones. We all want to do what ever we can to make their coming here easy as possible. We are all in that boat. I am glad to know you and her have studied the file. She is already here, and you just do not know it! Best of luck.

David,

I think in my case I need to point out that I'm from Ukraine too. Been here 10 years. So I know all the steps of "adjusting"

Hey Sasha et al,

I'm using your list too and will add the NOA 2 also (when the blessed thing happens!)

Diana and my situation has the extra complications (compared to yours) that we were both previously married and Diana had two name changes and a son. Note that my read of the regs. includes for any translated document an attestation of the translator's compentency. To your list I've added:

3. I-134 x1 + 1 copy

e. -Proof of all items in I-134 (business ownership, stocks, rental properties, house...)

4. Her Birth Certificate: Original + Copy + Translation + Certification of translation

5. Passports (both foreign and domestic + mine if I'm there)

6. Police certificate + Translation + Cert. (1 in married and 1 in maiden names?)

11. Marriage certificate to show legal last name change + Copy + Translation + Certification of translation

12. Legal certificate of first name change + Copy + Translation + Certification of translation

13. Son's Birth Certificate + Copy + Translation + Certification of translation

14. Son's travel documents + Copy + Translation + Certification of translation

15. Signed and Notarized letter from ex-husband giving permission for son to leave UA + Copy + Translation + Certification of translation

16. Copy of photo/signature page of ex-husband's passport + Copy + Translation + Certification of translation

Have I missed anything???
