pls help..planning 2 travel 2 philippines and my flight is coming...my passort and my permanent resident have different middle name and im worried if i will have 2 face any problem in immigration 2 come back here in US...

When did you get your greencard? Did you just find out about the difference in the middle name? Why did you wait only 2 days before your flight to worry about this?

I wanna say it'll simply be a matter of a secondary screening, but I don't think anyone can give you a definitive answer except the CBP officer who processes you on your way back.

My passport and my GC are in two different last names. The passport with my former name and the GC with my married name. It has never caused a problem when re-entering the country.

I'm moving your thread from the ROC foum to the General Immigration Discussion. :)

good evening guys,

i have a question about travel. my green card expires on april 21 and already recvd the letter from uscis stating that my resident status has been extended for one year. my passport from my country expired last year and to get a new one has a lengthy wait and i wanted to travel on a cruise in may. from experience have you guys had any problems traveling by sea at other countries ports of call with your expired green card, notice of extended residency and having an expired passport? do they even check your documents when you arrive at the other ports or to get back on the ship?

any feedback would be helpful thank you in advance

With the exception of Canada, at land borders only, you cannot travel to other countries without a valid passport. WRT ports of call...... check your cruiseline's website. It depends on the country whether you are required to obtain a visa or not. In the majority of cases it is not a requirement but your cruiseline would have that information. Generally, all you do is have your onboard card scanned when you exit the ship, and then again when you re-enter. Some countries require you to scan in and out of the POE gate, also..... or to at least show your card.

Here is an informational link from the Holland America line: Travel Identification Requirements

I'm going to separate your question from jhoy's thread as it is best to create your own threads so as not to hijack someone else's. :)

Late Reply.

But you shouldav went to the Phil Embassy in LA and get a new passport with your married name or get an amendment on your old passport, it takes a few minutes and then they'll mail the passport back to you - they might do expedited services, not so sure though. But that's what you shouldav done, by anyhow hope everything turned out okay for you
