NEW ORLEANS–Republicans and tea party activists are fond of accusing President Barack Obama of being a socialist, but today party gadfly Ron Paul said they had it wrong.

“In the technical sense, in the economic definition, he is not a socialist,” the Texas Republican said to a smattering of applause at the Southern Republican Leadership Conference.

“He’s a corporatist,” Paul quickly added, meaning the president takes “care of corporations and corporations take over and run the country.”

Does being senile qualify as being nuts? Ron Paul is no conservative, nor does he belong to any hue on the political spectrum. He inspires speed freaks, and 45 year old male virgins, to climb utility poles and post signs halfway up that say, "Who is Ron Paul?"

Haven't you been listening? Obama singlehandedly saved the country from economic collapse and you want more from the man. The ingratitude of the public is appalling. We need him to give our unqualified support, more power and more money to accomplish his historic mission. He's the only one standing up for civilization against the gun-toting, Bible thumping crowd of Fox New watchers who are really destroying this nation by phone in death threats.

I never bought into the Obama mythology, in fact I believe I have said on numerous occasions exactly what I think about him, not that you bothered to pay any attention. I just thought he was better than the shower of $hit that was the McCain/Palin campaign, and given how GWB left a bad taste in people's mouths, not even Ronald Reagan could have beaten Obama.

I didn't say bought into Obama as the myth and legend but I threw in a composite of the usual comments I've heard on OT for over a year.

I don't remember exactly where you'd part ways with Obama politically but you sure have plenty of pointed comments for anyone else. You contemporary opinion of Reagan a as 10 year-old lad in the UK is probably good for more than a few belly laughs. Reagan vs. Obama is in the realm of fantasy politics but Obama wouldn't have been close to Reagan in two elections-Reagan carried 44 states in 1980 and 49 states in 1984. Obama, on the other hand, may not get a 2nd term at all.
