Hi. Not as yet but I am slowly opening doors. Sadly the local library has an ascendancy of volunteers. I DID have a call from an agency on Thursday asking for more information. I called the person and got a voice mail so left a message and backed it up with an email answering the questions he was after. I then had a reply asking for a resume... and then it went quiet. ( sigh )

I think I'm developing a "Salesman attitude" where I'm just not going to take it personally that doors keep being slammed in my face. Perhaps its for the best.

you guys have opened my eyes that's for sure.

You definitely cannot take it personally - but that isn't something that's easy to do, at least at first. Things just are not like they once were, thanks to this economy. It's making employers much more mercenary, I think. They have the luxury to be choosy, and boy are they.

I'm a big fan of toastmasters and also volunteering at the local chamber of commerce. You get to meet people, and ultimately, it's people that make the decision to hire you. I never mentioned the library, btw - you might want to re-read those 2 links - the point was to get out, meet people, on a schedule. The first meeting you go to, may not be fruitful at all, but if you are consistent about making any 2nd meeting, ppl will start to remember you, and you can then steer the conversation to 'any hiring at yer firm? '
