Sputum Test

hi to all. i am new poster here, We are still waiting for our NOA2 but i just want to prepare ahead of time.

I am curious and kinda afraid of going for the madical examination there in St. Lukes Medical Center Extension Clinic because I read many negative feedbacks.

Most of them are complianing for their x-ray results ( with scars, blurred, etc.) that would require them to do sputum test for 4 days (i think)..which took almost 2 months of waiting again for the result and only to find out that it is negative at the end.

Now I wonder if will I go for my medical exam 2 months before the interview date or will do it few days before the interview? it would be risky for me because i am living in davao.

hi there pookie! as far as i can remember from our application process, SLEC will need the NOA2 and also the interview date confirmation that will be e-mailed to you or fiance(e). Not to discourage you or anything but, yes there has been a lot of negative feedbacks in terms of the X-ray results and it will definitely delay the process... My best suggestion for you is to get enough rest... and since your from davao ill just say it in my dialect that's close to yours... inom kuno permi ug gatas kay makatabang kuno na... goodluck...

You can actually do the medical exam with just the NOA2 letter and the Manila Embassy case number that you get from NVC when you call to see when they'll send your file to the embassy. If NVC gives you a MNL#, then you use that and the NOA2 letter to do the medical. Good luck.

yes exactly what we did. Mhay had her medical 2 months before her interview (or there about). One thing to think about too....Mhay's visa was only valid for 4 months from the date issued (6 months from the passed medical). It's really not a big deal though if you plan on travelling pretty quick after the visa is issued.

We were worried about the medical, but everything went smoothly.

Hi pookie123,

Don't worry to much... I found this good advice for you. I read it in here a while back and doesn't know to post the link of the thread where I found this good piece of advice.

NO COLD drinks, air, NON WHATSOEVER!!!!

NO SMOKING, NO AIR-CONDITIONING that makes her chilled. If she has to go to a place air conditioned she must keep herself warm.

Keep away from people. Crowd causes stress. Stress causes respiratory risks.

SHE MUST SLEEP AT LEAST 10 hours at night.

SHE MUST EAT even if she does not want to.

SHE MUST TAKE B complex vitamins to activate/enhance her nervous system and thereby improving immune centers in her brain.

No carrying heavy weights of any kind.

Pray... pray and pray.... also eat healthy! Taga Davao man ka you have lots of fresh fruits there. Eat lots of fruits and vegetables everyday. An apple a day keep the doctor away... he... he... he...

Where man imong fiance here in the US?

Take care sis and good luck on your journey! good.gifgood.gif

I agree, drink milk just like what I did and take rest as much as you can. It won't hurt if you'll do. Although I know I am physically healthy before the medical exam 2 months before that araw-araw ang inom ko ng gatas even I am not a fan of milk, hehehe. I also drunk 2 cans of sterilized milk that day before I went to St.Luke's, nakakatakot because we do not know what to expect, sabayan mo na rin ng maraming prayers because it help a lot! Good luck! Cheer up! Everything will be alright.

I had a friend who also drank milk a day before her medical, however, she still had to undergo a sputum test because the milk didn't help. After two months, the result was negative. When I had my medical, I didn't drink milk (like what I planned on doing) cuz my friend advised me not to. And I did fine. Got my vaccine shots on the second day of my medical.

I have another friend who did her medical early. She did fine. Got also her vaccine shots on the second day of her medical, however, she had to do another medical because of some issues that caused a delay. The embassy required her to have her 2nd medical done before her interview.

If you're sure that there will be no delays, go ahead and have your medical. Just get lots of rest. Keep on praying.

Good luck!
