I am not a CR1... anyway, I don't believe I am. I came to the US as a Canadian visitor, married (this was not planned) and overstayed for about 3 years. I am now adjusting my status.

Thank you for listing your package, even tho it is not the same situation, it helps to compare. :)

*edit* I will update as soon as this is in the mail. As for filing location, I'm not sure yet where it is. :bonk:

Actually, to be more precise. I am confused between what is a "Service Center" and a "Filing Location".

My filing location was the Chicago lockbox (see my profile) but my local USCIS office (where the

AOS interview would be held) is NYC.

When I was doing the K-1 petition my service center was the VSC (Vermont) and I had no interaction

with the local NYC USCIS office.

The service centers are regional. I don't think I will have any more interaction with the Vermont center,

only with the NYC office. They want to see us in person for the interview and it would be unreasonable

to make us go to Vermont for that.

Mmmm ok, let me see if I understand. The Service Center is where you send your paperwork, but the Regional Office is where you get your fingerprints taken and your interview appointment?

So, my Service Center would be Chicago (because it's an adjustment of status) and I would go get fingerprinted to Columbus, because it's the closest to me.

Did I get it right? :)

I believe so. Yes, you do send it to Chicago. Follow the AOS process given to you earlier. You will be asked to get your fingerprints at the (usually) closest place to you. Your biometrics appt letter will state where you will need to go. And your interview appt. should be close by to where your biometric appt. was located. (Mine were both in Norfolk,VA but in different buildings down the street from one another).

Good luck!

Thank you! It's getting close! It's hard to believe that 2 years ago I didn't know ANYTHING about AoS and it felt like I was doomed, but the more I learn and the more I hear about people who went trough what I am going trough, the better I feel. :)

Hey hon, everything will be alright, just take it easy and we'll help you get through this. You can PM me if/when you want to talk... Im delayed until Tuesday as I just realized in my double-checking that incomplete address was on I-693 so might have to have Doctor transcribe the first page again.

Thats why its always good to read, review, re-read and read what you reviewed
