Ok so obviously if you're reading this, you are bored too.

There are four couples here that always hang out, me and my hubby, my college best friend and her hubby, my HS best friend and his wife and a girl we knew in HS and her fiance.

Well...the last girl mentioned is kinda getting on people's nerves...not mine...but others. She doesn't bother me, but she rubs the other girls the wrong way.

So. Sat is my HS BF's wife's bday...lets' call her Samantha. My friend, her hubby, emails us all saying that we are going out to dinner with her sister and friends to celebrate the bday! He had left that one girl off of the e-mail.

Well, I had plans already, but cancelled them because I'm a good friend and wouldn't miss her bday for the world...There was some drama about should they invite that one girl or not, but whatever...

So I just got an email from his wife saying that she dind't know he was doing that...and that she was excited to have dinner with just her and her sister. (This dinner email was sent to like 8 ppl....)

Is this weird? should I be offended, or hurt? or is it just stupid....

I am feeling annoyed right now because I changed my plans :( but really...weird, right?

Finally finished with immigration in 2012!

Definitely an annoyance, but the good part is you have time to change your plans back! If you really want to do something with her/for her birthday, ask if you could take her out for dinner/ice cream/movie when she and you have time...

I think you have the right to feel a bit offended. The wife should sort it out with her husband and not trouble you with it. Then whatever decision they come up with if it is different from his email, he should be the one telling you, not his wife. I don't understand why she would be so bold to tell you that she had different plans from what her husband told you. Bad form.

I'm confused. What does everyone not liking that one girl have to do with your other friends chagning the plans?

Me too. Who's on first?

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

I was a bit confused by this too. But if I've understood correctly it sounds as though your friend stood up for herself and claimed her right to do what she really wanted on her birthday. I wish I was better at doing this! So I think I'd admire her for it and do something else to celebrate with her if you'd like to. And, as someone else said, it wasn;t as though she let you know at the last minute so you have plenty of time to rearrange your own plans for Saturday.

Yes, the husband should have cleared it with the wife first, but I actually think she did the right thing in letting everyone know that dinner wasn't going to happen as soon as she knew. And really, it is her choice since it's her birthday and if she had an idea of how she wanted to spend it, she should be able to spend it that way without everyone feeling left out.

I'm going to agree and say that that e-mail your friend sent was rude. I can see that it was her birthday and she wanted it to be her day or something, but if that unpopular friend was not included, that couldn't be the issue (that's why you mentioned her, right?) so she was probably just being selfish for some reason.

oooh the friend thing...sorry...was I don't think she wanted the other girl to come...but didn't want to not invite her...so PART of it was not wanting to get in the middle of a whole "mean girl" drama.

I, personally, would have just dealt with it and talked to my hubby, but I can see what ya'll are saying. Instead of univiting SO MANY People...but I will be glad to go out later and remake my original plans :)

But--I think she should have said that the plans were off in a MUCH more polite way. As in, "my sister and I already had a plan, not "I only want to spend time with my sister."

I don;t see why that's selfish. It's her birthday - it's supposed to be all about her!!
