Hi !

I'm a previous f1 married to a citizen. Got my Con. GC 1 month ago and was wondering how it would work to migrate my parents (both over 55 years old) to us.

I mean i'm not even sure they are interested haven't asked yet, their in Sweden so it's not like it's life or death, but my

wife suggested it and think we should do it but I'm little doubtful...

Me, 30 years old btw. So how are the chances?

In what grounds can they be denied to live in us if I migrate them?

Can I do that on conditional geeencard ?

Last question, can my wife, who already petionaed

me help with the whole process?

Thanx in advance!!

To my knowledge, you must be a USC to sponsor your parents -- PLRs can only sponsor spouses and children. If you opt to become a USC, it's similar to the process for sponsoring a spouse -- you jointly file a I130 (petition for alien relative) and an I485 (adjustment of status), and at some point file an I864 (affidavit of support).

You have to be a USC to petition for your parents, your wife cannot. She can be your co- sponsor in case you do not make enough to sponsor your parents. So once you become a USC you can petition for them and they will go through consular processing. You must file 2 separate petitions if they decide they want to come.

I was goin to mention Medical Insurance, but by the time you could petition them Obamacare may be up an running.

http://www.foreignborn.com/visas_imm/immigrant_visas/bring_other_family/3bringing_my_parents.htm

here it says:

"

Green Card Process for My Parents (Mother, Father):

An immigrant (also called a "lawful permanent resident" and Green Card holder) is a foreign national who has been granted the privilege of living and working permanently in the United States. Your parents (mother, father) must go through a multi-step process to obtain a Green Card and become an immigrant."

That's correct. Only a US citizen can petition for his or her parents. Praise the Lord for it. Imagine every new Green Card holder would want to add 2 more people, and imagine the snowball effect it would have. Just scary to even think about it . . .

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.
