Me thinks that you doth protest too much. A hypocrite is someone who says or does one thing in public and something else in private. If I criticize the Republican party that makes me a hypocrite? In what way? Please explain, it might be edifying. But please either spit or swallow so that I can understand you, I wouldn't want you to sound like your hero Barney Frank. Let me remind you that Republicans (almost exclusively) have tried to catch the wave of distrust of the government by latching on to this so-called teabagging movement. They have fomented so much anger and animosity that it has gotten out of hand. Gay-bashing has become de rigeur for being a Republican, yet they seem to have a proclivity for homosexual encounters. It is more newsworthy because they present themselves as the defenders of family values, etc. I am hardly a fan of Obama or his policies. I didn't want a tan Richard Nixon in office, but that's what we have. _Simpson_ started bashing the Democratic Party but that's OK in your eyes. Why would you be interested in Barney Frank's sexual behavior anyways, unless, of course...

If you read what I posted in its entirety you would see that this wasn't about bashing the Democratic party but rather me just teasing Scandal.

If you go back to the original thread on the capsizing you will see that I admitted that the Republicans are not incapable of saying stupid things. I got to say though that this takes the cake, come on now you have to agree that this comment takes the cake. I still get a laugh out of it every time I think about it.

In an attempt to get this thread back and hopefully, staying on topic, I am providing this link: http://www.spaceweather.com/ . This site is one of my favourites and I read it regularly.

Near the bottom of the page it provides a monthly list of near- miss asteroids. Every month there are potentially hazardous asteroids (PHA) that come surprisingly close to the earth. For example, on March 18, PHA 2010FU9 (yeah, I know, but that is its real designation ), a 19 meter asteroid, passed 1.5 LD (lunar distance) from the Earth. On April 10 this year there 1,114 PHA.

This is a great site for other space related information as well - in fact the main photograph this month is a terrific image of the Icelandic Eyjafjallajökull volcano blazing away against the Aurora Borealis.

Do you know the definition of capsize? I will provide you with a little inside info that I learned in Nam. Capsize means - to turn bottom up; overturn. That said my conclusion would be that after earth capsized we would all fall off of the earth.

Here is the problem with the theory of using nukes to obliterate an asteroid. Asteroids has gravitational pull. We may send a nuke to shatter it. However, there's a good chance that the asteroid pieces will re-combine fast enough before it hits the earth, thereby, rendering this solution useless.

The article of this phenomena was released this past week. I'll post it. I think it's from New Scientist or the journal Physics.
