my timeline is in my signature, i filed for removal of conditions back in september 2008!

last fall when i had not received my green card yet i called USCIS, asking them to email on my behalf to have my case pushed through. immigration sent me a cookie-cutter letter 2 weeks later saying they didn't know yet but that i would receive a decision or NOA within 45 days. i didn't, so i called them again, and i then received another letter saying my case had been given to an adjudicating officer and to wait another 45 days. i waited and nothing, so i called again, same thing, they sent me another letter on february 22nd this time saying to wait 90 days and if i hadn't heard from them to call them !*&%#$?

HOW MUCH LONGER DO I NEED TO WAIT??

i am getting really impatient. i have sent form DHS-7001 with CIS Ombudsman to ask what is up with my case, i have had my congresswoman send in a letter for me. i have had to get stamps in my passport twice in order to be able to travel, my latest one is about to expire, i need to take another 2h trip to my nearest office to get another stamp. i am sick of this!!

has anyone else experienced this and have any words of wisdom?

K1 visa

K1 Visa process took about 1 year, got married on January 13, 2006.

Got my green card on October 5, 2006.

Removal of Conditions

September 15, 2008: I-751 package sent

November 1, 2008: Received NOA

Januar 13, 2009: Biometrics appointment in Buffalo

May 2009: Notice of case transfered to California

August 3, 2009: received RFE letter; sent in evidence 2 weeks later, USCIS confirmed reception

March 03, 2010: Filed form DHS-7001 with CIS Ombudsman, and contacted my local Congresswoman to try to get my case pushed through.

June 5, 2010: Letter from CIS Ombudsman telling me USCIS is not ready for a decision yet. They didn't give me a timeline for when to expect a decision... this is getting worst...

August 2, 2010: Infopass appointment for I-155 stamp in my passport. Agent who helped me is going to get my file from California and process it himself!

August 10, 2010: Email from my Congresswoman's office, USCIS still not ready for a decision, told to wait another 90 days. And email from agent at local office telling me that his request to get my file was denied by California...

Involving your congresswoman is an excellent move. In previous posts by other members, people who have done that were able to get some solid answer back regarding why the heck is it taking so long to approve the darn thing... The congresswoman cannot influence their decision, but she can most probably shake things up at the office for some answers.

IT does take a little time for them to get back to you, so generally, you will hear back from your congresswoman (if she is diligent) and then you should see some status update...

Hopefully you will hear soon from all of the involved parties....

I had my congressman getting involved when I filed for AOS. It worked, within 5 weeks I had my AOS approved and GC in hand. We are still not sure what exactly happened but it sounds pretty much like they had send my file back and forth between Service Centers and it got "lost" somehow. Anyway, once my congressman got involved, things finally happened, so I am hoping, it will be the same for you.

I am sorry you have to go through this wait, I wished I could offer better advice.

thanks for the answers everyone.

nane, glad to hear involving your congressman helped! 5 weeks sounds reasonable, i guess i can wait that long if i have to.. :crying: i did call them up on monday to see where they were at; the case worker just confirmed that he had sent in a letter on my behalf and told me to be patient because it can be slow to hear back from them.

i am usually a very patient person, but this is the LAST step of this long process, can't this just be done with please?..

Are you thinking about citizenship? Word is that often times N400 will force adjudication of the I-751 petition.

I have to say my congressman was really on top of things. They informed me of every last word they heard from USCIS! I was running out of time as we were moving overseas on my husbands military orders and I didn;t want to leave without my gc or come back for an interview as I was very much pregnant at the time. Plus, who wants to mess with a preggo woman? Haha!

So yes, I am hoping you will hear good news very soon, be patient just a little bit longer!!!

I don't think USCIS understands what patience means..... I think you were more than reasonable.... I hope you hear soon at least from the congresswoman's office with some news.... this way, you know they at least contacted USCIS!

You enter a bookstore for used books in some old town. You see thousands of books, stacked. Some on the floor, some close to the ceiling. You ask the clerk about one used book you are looking for: yours. The clerk responds "I know I have it somewhere . . . can you call back next week?" A week later you call, and hear a similar response.

That's how USCIS works. There are hundreds of drones at work, having to adjucate tens of thousands of files every year. Your is there, somewhere. You ask them about it, they give you an excuse. You call again, same thing.

Your possible approaches to this are limited, as you can't just fly a plane into their building to "show them."

So get a congress person involved, or file the N-400. That'll MAKE 'em to look for your file. Another good one: a newspaper article, with your congress person's name in it, telling the public how ridiculous this is.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

i am not interested in citizenship, so that is not an option for me.

i am going to keep bugging my congresswoman's office until i hear something. although i know its not up to them; they sent in their request and are waiting just like i am right now. bleh.

i hadn't thought about writing an article! that might be a good idea. i might contact my local newspaper. but even then, who would that put pressure on, you know? my congresswoman can only do so much, right?

Typically, N-400 would have forced them to go dust off your file and get you approved but since you're not interested in citizenship, your only option is to wait and hope your congressman gets some results for you. This can be frustrating and I wish you all the luck in getting some answers.

a friendly VJ member reminded me that biometrics are only good for 15 months, and it will be 15 months for me in may. it would be nice if that meant that they were going to hurry to get things sorted out by then.

but if they don't, does that mean they are going to send me another letter to go for another set of biometrics?

i am so sick of this.... :bonk:

Yes, after 15 months you'll most likely get another biometrics notice.

Any luck with emailing congressman's aide to follow up on this? Ours was very expedient and we'd have info 2 days after she'd email USCIS congressional inquiries unit.

Well, he could re-forward the email to the congressional liaison unit and be a bit more proactive. Mine followed up with emails and called and while she did tell me it takes them up to 30 days to reply by law, she got the emails back in 2 business days.
