I have searched for K-3 timelines in Singapore, and also Consular timelines on K-3. Somehow I only seem to find the timelines for K-1 in Singapore. Singapore doesn't seem to handle k-3 visas. This is very worrying as my husband and I are in Singapore!

My mother-in-law in the USA is handling our applications for us and they have been mailing the NOA to her. We have yet to receive our interview date and are wondering if they will schedule an interview for us here in Singapore. We can't afford to fly to the US for an interview!

This worries me because my husband did approach the US embassy here and they told us that they only handle the filing for US citizens in Singapore. As my husband is not a citizen here, we turned to my mother-in-law to file for us at the Vermont Service Center.

Can someone please help me as such information doesn't seem available online? How long will it generally take before we get a notice for a k-3 interview?

Our Timeline:

Married in the US on the 31st December 2009

Filed for I-130 (VSC) in February 2010

NOA1 for I-130 (VSC) on 1st March 2010

Filed for I-129F (VSC) on 2nd March 2010

NOA1 for I-129F (VSC) on 8th March 2010

RFE for I-130 to be mailed to CSC on 15th April 2010 (didn't get a letter of our case being transferred to CSC... so confused!!)

RFE for I-130 sent to CSC on 22nd April 2010

RFE for I-130 received by CSC on 3rd May 2010

NOA2 for I-130 received from CSC on 6th May 2010 (Yay!!!)

The K3 visa path died February 1, 2010, so there was no need to file the I-129F. Follow the CR1 guide as that's the spouse visa available at this time. The Embassy told you they handle filings for US Citizens who "reside" in Singapore, not who have both US and Singapore citizenship. Doesn't matter now as your I-130 was filed in the USA.

The Immigrant Visa Interview will be conducted in Singapore - don't sweat that part.

What a ConOff told you, was specific to 'Direct Consular Filing' of the I-130 petition.

Hey - any news? By now, I think, you should have prepped that 'Packet 3' collection of docs, maybe even had a medical interview.

Sorry, been so busy! No, no news!! :( Our i-130 is now at the NVC but haven't gotten a completion reply. I was just wondering how long it takes from the time Singapore receives the packet to the time we have our interview. IS there any way to get this information?

I-130 at NVC?? OK !

What about the I-129F ? what's the status on it?

Suggest you start calling NVC and DOS hotline, about the I-129F casefile - see

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/264972-shortcuts-when-checking-for-updates-from-the-nvc-and-dos/

Dodi's posted 'how to call' and I've posted, further down, 'what you can get' - Usually, Singapore will set the interview date, on the K-3 interview, after the packet 3 and packet 4 have been 'slung about' in Singapore.

Now, back to the I-130 -

There's a whole slew of NVC Processing that needs to be done -

(for backgrounder, hard detail ) see:

DS-230 - http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3190.html

I-864 - http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3730.html

General NVC stuff - http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_1335.html

Most people want speed at NVC, so they Study LingChe (at http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/LingChe_NVC_ShortCut ) or my mini-how-to for slinging stuff into NVC based on online payment portal status (see http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/221785-ds-3032-slowdown/page__view__findpost__p__3560467 )

NVC will set the appointment for Singapore , when everything is complete at NVC - you'll get (USCPetitioner will get) an appointment letter sent in via email.

-----

way back when, at the US Embassy/Singapore, I'm betting your husband spoke with a 'local worker' and not a USCitizen Visa Officer.

NVC sets the appointments for Singapura -

and

The appointment letter will come in via email.

Once the appointment is set, NVC sends out the casefile to Singapura.

so - Singapore receives the packet to the time we have our interview - that's backwards...

interview date will be set, by NVC, prior to NVC sending the casefile to SG.

as to 'get the information' - sure ! call into NVC, get a Human -

this is the '2nd week' of the month, tis time for 'scheduling interviews' - so you might have some news !!!

But you (or yer USCitizen Spouse) must call.

Since this is the 2nd week (and everyone else wants their info, too) -expect to be put on hold for about 20 to 30 minutes, prior to getting a human. Unless you have 'unlimited USA call plan', suggest skype PAID service OR google voice - yer gonna be on hold for some time.

Our case was completed on the 20th October!!

My husband called the NVC, and they say that THEY are the ones that set the interview, and once it is confirmed, we get an email + our packet is mail to Singapore.

Now I wonder how long before we will get that email? Is there anything we can do by calling the NVC?

Hopefully we get our interview by December. Hubby really wants to be home for Christmas.

Have you learned which visa you will be interviewing for? (K-3 or CR-1/IR-1 ) ?

Singapura 'gets scheduled' rather quickly, but -

you really need to know which visa yer getting ready for -

the documents required for further processing are different.

So - what's what ?

If it all seems confusing - hey ! Go have a curry laksa or hokkien mee, yer choice, then come back and study http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/EZGuideSpouse and determine IF you filled out a DS-230 and submitted it to NVC, or not.
