 Hi guys,

I have a lot of questions right now and wonder if anyone could advise...I feel sad right now because

me and my husband are still trying to figure out if they will want him for the military...its our nightmare if he is wanted for two years...I really don't know what to say but we love each other so much and being away for so long will be so hard...and that 2 years is not even including our visa process...he has been trying to do everything to chek himself in the military check here since 2 months and his file is complete all he needs now is to go be checked but the soldiers told him the wrong date and he missed it so we have to wait more time...we don't know if it had anyhtng to do with when they saw in the paperwork that i am american adn wanted to harass him out of jealousy or if it was just a honest mistake, but either way, its bad because I was hoping to return home by september for a class for my degree in college...Im dont want to complain but I dont discuss visa things or our situation with anyone else and I felt like maybe you guys have been through more than we have so far--

My question is -if he has to be in the military--

Is it possible for us to start our K3 while he is in the last year since it will take that long for interview-

and will the consulate officer feel anything is strange about us because we lived together for 6 months togethr every second of that time and then apart for two years...with him in the military we will just be able to talk on the phone some and internet one week of the month with maybe one or two visits, so we won't have much more "relationship evidence" to add in that time period. Also, if we get the letter that he is drafted, should we go talk to someone at the embassy here and tell them our situation maybe they keep it on file somewhere or it would help them understand later what happend? Hopefully Im not being annoying with all my questions but I appreciate any advice or info if you guys have some helpful advice for us.

Thanks for reading

Kristy

Yeah I had thought about that before, but I didn't think our situation was that bad. I figured we could do it ourselves. When you suggest an immigration attorney, is that because they are wary of giving visas to ppl that have served in another countries' military or why? I had thoguht that other ppl had gone through our situation before successfully..? What do you think

Kristy, it's not that your situation is "bad". I don't know how many here have had experience with filing while their SO finished out their military obligation. I doubt that being in the military will have any adverse effect on the case. They do security checks no matter what. In Egypt, as you know, military service is manditory for all young men unless they meet criteria for exclusion. Mohammed is an only son so he was not required.

I agree that an immigration attorney would be of great help to you. My husband had served in the Jordan military but it was years ago. It did not have any impact on our case. I don't know what they do if your SO is currently in the military though. I do wish you the best of luck.

Kristy ...How are you ? I hope you are doing fine .Iam really sorry because of this Military situation..I have an idea , well if Ahmed had to have the military service I think the best way will be for you to travel to USA ad work and file for I-130 "CR1" for him since in anytime you can just hold the progress of your CR1 by waiting for a while to send the papers back to NVC so by the time the CR1 is at the embassy your husband would have finished his Military ...this an idea ...

about evidences even if you still talk for once a week ...you will have lots of evidence by then ..You can try skype to call your husband or Ahmed to call you it's very cheap for him to call you only 2 cent a minute !!!

Alos you have to work on having lots of evidences form now ..You stayed for 6 months here that's really Good evidence of ongoing strong relationship..Take alot of Photos esp. with his family member and his relatives in your regular daily activity there..

YOu may need to consider the Attonery thing but you must pick then a good one who knows well abotu cases going through Egypt..

My best wishes , and Good luck

I pray for you Always Kristy

Take Care

Salwa

Salwa-that seems like a smart idea I hadn't thought of that...It seems like a nice solution but how long could i hold the paperwork? Does it have any expiration time ? Guess if I do that, I will need a lawyer to figure out how...but it seems kool to me...by the way congrats again I am so happy for you!

Jean-if you read this thread again I was going to ask if you know when Moh had to give them his military status paper..I mean it was before the interview I guess ?

Thanks everyone for you help with this

You need Kristy to read more about CR1 and the route through NVC and then you can see when each stage will expire since Mark called NVC and we wanted to know when our IV fees bill will expire I think they told him in 6 months or a year I don't remmber I will ask him for you again...but this is just one step NVC has too many steps that can takes long time enough till Ahmed finishes his Military service..IT can take long time at NVC if you want it to take that time that why most people try the James shortcut thing to speed things up..

Good luck and best wishes :)

Kristy,

He sent that with his packet 4 stuff to schedule his interview. Rahma was nice enough to explain to me that he will also need papers and a stamp in his passport from the Egyptian government after his visa is issued clearing him to be able to leave Egypt.

 My husband knows a man in his 50s who went back to Egypt to visit. When he was on his way back ot the United States, they stopped him at the airport and asked him about his military service. Because he didn't have the stamp in his passport, they wouldn't let him out.

So from what I'm understanding here even though my husband never had to serve in the military he still needs papers to prove this? Where would he have to go to get these papers and stamp in his passport? Also, about police reports...My husband lived in Sallum for work for nearly a year but recently moved back to his hometown. I understand that he must get a police report from both places. How soon should he go about getting these? Our case number was assigned at the NVC last Friday, alhamdulillah, so we should start getting paperwork from there in the next couple weeks or so inshallah. Should he get the police reports now or wait? How long does it take to get them? Also, he has to get his ID and passport updated to include me. He doesn't want to do it now because he's afraid the gov't will think he's all planning to leave just because he gets them updated. I'm trying to tell him that I doubt the gov't will think that.

Any thoughts?

For the army papers, here is what my husband had to say about it:

That is good and interesting question?

He must go to the Amry Center (Mantakat Tagneed) which he was in before to get his exemption. It depends on where this Army Center was. I believe he knows where is this Amry Center. It may be in Tanta, Cairo, ..etc.

I really do not know so well about the situation of the exempted person. But, he must go the Amry Center (Mantakat Tagneed) and tell them that he is going to travel to outside the country and if his Military Exemption Certificate is enough for this purpose.

For me although I had already an Military Exemption Certificate, it was not enough to travel outside, so, I paid money and I waited for a week to get a another Military Exemption Certificate which this phrasee written on it:

HE IS NOT REQUIRED FOR THE AMRY AT ALL. However, my prior Military Exemption Certificate had just this title "HE IS NOT REQUIRED FOR THE AMRY".

Anyways, getting the appropriate Military Exemption Certificate or in case the one he has is already enough. He must go to the "Ministry of Interior Administration of Passports Immigration and Nationality" at his twon or state in casee of he lives in a village and tell them that he is going to travel outside the country. They will ask him to have a photo copy of his Military Exemption Certificate from both sides, in case of the Certificate is the right one. He is not going to pay a lot of money for this procedure except for the photo copy of the Military Exemption Certificate and for some stampes.

All Egyptians males must have a NOTICE on PAGE 9 of their PASSPOERT. A phrases like that must be attached to PAGE 9 of the Passport:

Phrase one

" The military situation has been modified to that person by the Administration of Passports at his (Twon)"

Phrase two

" HE IS NOT REQUIRED FOR THE ARMY"

He must have 5 stampes on this page besides the last two phrases.

I think he will get his passport with all those stampes and phrases included to it in the same day in sha Allah.

At the airport the Egyptian officer there is going to look at two things in his passport:

American Visa, PAGE 9.

The person will be stopped at the airport immediately and there is a possibility to be accused of escaping from the country without a Admissibility of the Ministry of Defense, if his Military Situation is not clear.

One Page 6 on my passport, you can see this verse,

"The Admissibility of the Ministry of Defense Is Required in Case of Travelling outside, please see Page 9"

He must check his passport and at least, he must go to the "Ministry of Interior Administration of Passports Immigration and Nationality" at his twon or state in casee of he lives in a village and tell them that he is going to travel outside the country. They will tell him and he must do.
